If I had a nickel for every time someone told me if I was a priest or becoming a priest I’d have 8 nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but heyβ€”it’s more than two!

Very happy that I didn’t talk myself out of studying at the library this morning. It felt like a close fight, but I definitely won. 😌 🧠πŸ’ͺπŸΎπŸ’»

πŸ˜“ Soooo close to completing the NMA CompNeuro course at W3D4. But none of the info is getting through to me. It's going to sting a bit, but I think I have to restart Week 3 over... πŸ˜“ β€ͺ

Wow! I finished another Week in the course… I finally more than half way through. One more module and then my attempt at the end-of-the-course project. Can’t believe I really did this, on my own too. 😳 #NMA πŸ§ πŸ’»πŸ’ͺ🏾

Oof! I think I’m getting to the point where I need to reach out more for help with my course work πŸ˜…. Exciting, and super nervous about it. Maybe I should join @neuromatch.bsky.social β€˜s Discord sooner than expected? #selfstudying

Catsitting this week, so no library time for a while. Studying at home as an easily distracted person. πŸ‘πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

Woke up early, showered, had breakfast, took my medicines and supplements, brushed my teeth, got finely dressed. Feeling confident as heck on my way finish off this segment on Generalized Linear Models (GLMs) at the library πŸ“š . #ComputationalNeuroscience πŸ§ πŸ’»πŸ’ͺ🏾

Hi folks, been a while since I’ve active. Would anyone happen to have any advice for someone who feels like they’re still learning their foundations all on their own? #CompNeuro #neuroscience #computationalneuroscience Feels like I’ve spent a long time at the bottom and not sure I have much to show

In just a couple more weeks, I’ll be wrapping up my Python course, and from there, I’ll could finally start crafting my own programs to build out my portfolio.

when i decided to go for computational neuroscience, i wasn’t into Comp Sci. but i was craving something hard at a time when i'd catch myself daydreaming about math, longing for studying & methods that was rigorous. i still have doubts if i'll make it, but for once, the path feels right. #selfstudy

finished today's lesson in my python course about file i/o.
my script just reads a list of names and then generates personalizes letters for each.
almost gave up, then everything just clicked.
the best part was trimming 27 lines of clunkiness down to 8.
felt euphoric to figure it out. #PythonEverday

Calling All Mad Scientists: Reject "AI" as a Framing of Your Work By Emily tl;dr: Every time you describe your work that involves statistical modeling as "AI" you are lending your power and credibility to Musk and DOGE. Mad...

New great piece from @emilymbender.bsky.social explaining the problem with "AI" framing.
"If what you are doing is sensible and grounded science, there is...a more precise way to describe it that bolsters rather than undermines the interest and value of your research."

Whew! Finished coding a program challenge, only to realized I did it just by sight. I had assumed what the project would be and just went straight to work in one go, not realizing the project was supposed to be broken up into smaller chucks. And I still nailed it! #ThisIsMyNerdEra πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘¨πŸΎβ€πŸ”¬ #PythonEveryday

I just want to say how incredibly welcomed I feel here. So many brilliant and generous people in STEM have not only followed back, but also guided me toward new opportunities and connections. That means so much to me. Thank you all!

By the way, I just realized I've been addressing folks by their first name without thinking! Let me know if you'd prefer Dr. [Last Name]/Prof. [Last Name] instead. I don't want to be too informal!
