I wasn't warned about how difficult it would be to determine stats, skills, maximum points, how to determine the starting amount, progression and related topics. It is seriously overwhelming without a clear starting point. #horror #ttrpg #indiegame #indiedev

To keep the game feeling like one, characters need stats and a specific way to roll dice. The maths are definitely a challenge at this stage, so fingers crossed I figure it out *sweats in dev* #horror #ttrpg #indiegame #indiedev

I personally feel that safety tools are a must. Part of that is agency. So I concluded players should be aware of their character's past/trauma/ flaws. Each player may not be surprised by their own character's revelations but can be by the other characters'. #horror #ttrpg #indiegame #indiedev

After looking at various ways to incorporate unreliable narration, I'm forced to look at player characters and what they need in terms of skills, stats, etc. to become psych horror protagonists and whether their players should know their flaws/pasts/traumas. #horror #ttrpg #indiegame #indiedev

I don't necessarily want to mess with people who go by the numbers, but I do want to entice them to roleplay over rollplay.
Perhaps a distortion die (d20) along with regular dice to determine the reliability of perception that changes (d10) as distortions become more prevalent?

Psychological horror ttrpgs inadvertently gamify mental health through sanity, fear or panic mechanics that can make the horror feel forced. I'm contemplating near equal agency storytelling and unreliable narration at the heart of psych horror. #horror #ttrpg #indiegame #indiedev

As I try to translate the essence of psychological horror into mechanics, I look at existing systems and videogames to see if I can find new ways for dice and rollable tables to evoke the same tension, dread and release prevalent in the genre. #horror #ttrpg #indiegame #indiedev

While working on my system's core document, I realized one big flaw. My design became a love letter to things I enjoy, rather than what it is meant to be. I'm back at the drawing board to create a psychological horror ttrpg with genre fitting mechanics. #ttrpg #indiegame #indiedev

Today's work on my debut system (title tbd) included reading through the document and realizing that some content had become obsolete and a certain mechanic felt like railroading. Tools not rules sprang to mind and as a result I have more work than before. #ttrpg #indiegame #indiedev

I've seen a few actual-plays of Legends of Akeroth, and can say that each one has been entertaining and unique. I'll at least be keeping an eye on the project if nothing else. Very good work!

These look beautiful. At first glance, it's easy to think they're simple but there's quite a bit of detail in there the longer you look, which always puts a smile on my face. Great work!

A true labor of love. So much effort put in by two #indiedev s working together in the #TTRPG space to create a product that is currently doing exceptionally well on Kickstarter. It's a big inspiration for ttrpg indiedevs all over the world!
