Thankyou! It was a joy to walk the paths - and I'm still researching others I hear about.
My thanks to the National Trust for letting me rummage today through the library of historic house, Townend at Troutbeck #Cumbria UK - absolutely fascinating selection of local history books and Commonplace books... share.google/Fhc4jDY6tZ3f...

1928 and Charles Oman MP speaks out about the Post Office taking charge of the new inventions of radio and telephones: "We don't want jangling brass and tinkling cymbals. We don't want telephones through which we may talk unintelligibly with the tongues of men and angels. We want more letters."
We will see you there, and I'll bring some paperbacks of The Postal Paths in case anyone wants to buy a copy and get you (and me!) to sign it.
If Trump hasn't blown up the world by April 21, there's a talk by Mark Richards (who illustrated The Postal Paths) in Loweswater, Cumbria UK. Details...
Perhaps best left untold! 😱
My thanks to @rolandmillward.com ...

Cut this picture out and keep it in your pocket. The next time someone says, "We should look after our own first - charity begins at home," take the photo out and say, "I agree. And to remind me, I carry a picture of home with me at all times."
It's quite clear this morning that someone needs to teach the AI machines about the UK tradition called April Fools Day! #AprilFool

This post is a year old so I'm not sure why the Bluesky algorithm has suddenly given it new life?! But here's the right link:

Alan Cleaver with a copy of The Postal Paths
A government minister has just been on TV to say there's definitely no shortage of The Postal Paths by Alan Cleaver, and definitely no need to panic buy.
(And if that doesn't see me on The Sunday Times Bestseller List, I don't know what will!).
It’s a great place to visit. @clarksshoes.bsky.social #museum

Copies of The Postal Paths
Alan Cleaver's notebook
Pop into the The New Bookshop in Cockermouth, #Cumbria and you can buy a signed copy of the paperback of The Postal Paths - and flick through the pages of one of the notebooks I kept while researching the paths...
Tripe Harry - the ghost of a tripe seller who haunts St Nicholas Gardens in Whitehaven. Surely the only ghost of a tripe seller?!

I dreamt I met someone who was erecting Boo Plaques (rather than the usual commemorative Blue Plaques) honouring the town's ghosts. And - unlike most of my weird dreams - this morning, I am still thinking that might be a good idea? #ghosts
Congratulations! P.S. Can we buy the coat, glasses, and other Ronan Hession memorabilia from your gift shop?!
I'm watching game show Pointless and a round on old phrases. This is one my Gran always used when you asked where anything was: "Up in Annie's room behind the clock."! (See Google for origin!)
Surely a sheep?!
I'll show you mine if you show me yours - zibaldone (journal) that is 😉
1940s and 50s.
I second @rolandmillward.com recommendation of The Notebbok by @zibaldoni.bsky.social - wonderful book.
Postman's Path Eskdale
The Postman's Path on Eskdale, Cumbria. It was walked for many years by Ben Vicars who always wore clogs. He delivered post in the valley on bike before, leaving his bike against the drystone wall, and taking this path to the farms on Birker Fell. His bike was always there when he returned.
