Trump demanded a "list of Jews" from the University of Pennsylvania, and a federal judge said, "Sure. It's not like history can teach us that there is anything wrong with giving a far-right, aspiring dictator a 'list of Jews.'"
How is this our reality. www.nytimes.com/2026/03/31/u...
Great to be at my alma mater Seth Low for Chancellor Samuels visit this AM where he announced Interim-Acting prefix was now dropped from "Superintendent Erin Lynch-Reyes." Congrats to our very deserving Supe & to all D21 families, who are very fortunate to have such a capable leader.

Yeah, maybe there was a game last night with some other team on a streaming service that couldn't even keep the scorebug on the screen most of the time, but TODAY is the real #OpeningDay, one of my favorite days of the year. #LGM! #mets
In the 1890s, suffragist Laura C. Holloway's Seidl Society organized all-day concerts in Brighton Beach & Coney Island for underprivileged women & children, offering free meals & beach access, convinced music could dispel sex, race, or economic divisions. #InternationalWomensDay
15 y.o. shot by a Bensonhurst apartment building (77th/Bay Pkwy) last nite thankfully in stable condition at Maimonides. No reports of suspect as of now. Wishing full/speedy recovery. Whatever the cause, kids being shot is something we should never see.

3/2/1867: Congress created the Dept of Education following slavery's end.
It's a dark irony to see DOE HQ honor Booker T. Washington while promoting a man who said, "Black women do not have the brain processing power to be taken seriously" and that we must "Ditch the DOE."
Every kid should be guaranteed nutritious meals, but children who eat breakfast consistently also do better in school. @nycschools.bsky.social offers ALL kids FREE breakfast. A hungry child cannot learn. Let’s fuel their futures! #NationalSchoolBreakfastWeek
🚨If you have a child born in 2023 or 2024, today (Feb 27) is the LAST DAY🗓 to apply for 3K or Pre-K in NYC.

@nycschools.bsky.social custodial staff remain undefeated. After my own shoveling, swung by few schools their amazing work (still, into the night), then I dug out x-walk ramps at a few intersections near schools. If you have the ability to dig out even one x-walk ramp, it makes a big difference.
Disagree with this. Parts of NYC, including areas I represent & live have:
▪︎nearly 2 ft of snow
▪︎power outages
▪︎subway lines delayed (many severe)
▪︎roads in bad shape for buses & private vehicles
Travel tomorrow inconvenient? Absolutely.
Dangerous? Quite possibly.
Whether you're one of the many cheering this or one of the many jeering this, all NYCPS buildings will be open & back in session tomorrow, Tuesday, 2/24. School custodial, faculty, administrative & support staff are going to do what they do and ensure they're ready for our kids.
🚫Only essential worker vehicles allowed on roads til 12pm

All cell phones in NYC just got this message.
Seriously, stay off the roads thru Monday 12pm.
On a less serious (but kinda serious) note, I'm glad we have a mayor who issued a statement like this, because the last one would have ended it by telling us to all stay in and smash.
UPDATE (as of 2/22 @ 12pm): The Mayor has announced that tomorrow, Monday, 2/23, will be an old-school snow day. That means all schools will be closed *and* there will be NO pivot to remote learning.
For the first time in 46 yrs (to the day), USA Men's Hockey takes gold at Olympics. There'll only ever be one "Miracle on Ice," but this was some performance in the final & will be long-remembered. Only the 3rd US gold ever, and first not at a games in the States.
