I probably spent 10,000 words in my upcoming book trying to say what these few paragraphs sum up way more succinctly.
Happiness in a pill, sold to you at a reasonable profit-making price. That's the goal here.
Stay home. Shut up. Be content. Fight our wars. Pay your bills. Take your happy pill.

This is it. This is the editorial that nails everything wrong with not only celebrating the recent psychedelic EO but the flaw at the heart of where our modern psychedelic renaissance has ended up.
Or one of two possibilities.
The psychedelic community has been conned by the guy who conned his way into the presidency.
Or I'm being strategically gaslit by a large number of people who have an interest (professional and/or commercial) in the narrative of medicalised psychedelics.
I'm still baffled by the general response to Trump's psychedelic EO.
I keep reading the details and can't see anything unexpected or groundbreaking but I'm constantly being told this is a historic moment.
Genuinely, am I missing something? Serious question.
Tech media in 2026 is literally just advertising for billion dollar corporations.
The ABC did *not* just ask a guy dressed as Luigi to do a piece to camera about the Supanova tragedy and screen it on the news.
Cheers for the kind words! Nice to know this account doesn't come across as overly cynical or negative because I do agree with you. There are still lots of good niches filled with ppl sincerely working to make good things.
You've succinctly encapsulated where the "psychedelic renaissance" has ultimately ended up. #findyourtrueself
Releasing the ibogaine IND hold is something I'm sure the fda was about to do independently. As was giving three psychedelic drugs a priority voucher accelerating their approval.
I'm guessing the three are psilocybin, mdma and LSD.
Wonder if they'll push one out before the midterms?
Reading some legitimately absurd takes on Trump's psychedelic EO.
Statements like: "Prohibition of psychedelics in America is over”.
As with most Trump things, the reality is the EO does very little outside of accelerate some big $ pharma interests.
It's not massive but there are some regulatory tweaks that'll likely accelerate some research and fda approvals over the next year or so. Mostly good for researchers and big pharma. Nothing like a step toward decrim or broad rescheduling though.
Worst session ever.
"I'm not going to stop bombing other countries, using the presidency to enrich my family or using militant groups to police American streets.
But I will give you some psychedelics...
Are we friends again Joe?"
Fantastic thread adding valuable nuance to a real benchmark study (and some correctives to some misdirected takes).
Vibes...
Interesting article. I cover a lot of similar territory in my book but I'm surprised at how uncritical that article is of Whittaker's practice.
For those in the Southern States of Australia, tis the time...
Be safe.
This harm reduction guide from entheogenesis australis is well done and highly recommended.
Oh it's a thing, podcasts too. I tried listening to something at 1.5 speed and it drove me crazy. What's new to me is the general sentiment had swerved so far that we're now the crazy ones for listening to stuff at normal speed.
No idea where this image came from but if this is the general sentiment going around right now then I guess I am a serial killer.
And quite likely a serial killer with a purpose - to take out as many 2X audio listeners out as possible before the authorities catch up with me...
Yeah there's definitely a middle point where self care is an important part of one's health but I find it's been pushed way too far in new age psychedelic circles. Pretty much got a whole chapter in my book about this 😂...

Trip Reports (out September 1st)...
I'm a big fan of Reggie Watts. I know he's had lots intersections with different facets of drug culture so can see real recognisable sentiments here.
Sadly I deeply disagree.
I feel some general ideas in this are foundations of real problems with western culture.
Yeah strange question to ask and amusingly defensive response. Highlight of the interview 😂

What a story!
Fantastically interesting piece from @maxdaly.bsky.social.
I genuinely believe you can infer a great deal about our current cultural climate by tracking recreational drug use trends. And it says a lot when cocaine use drops and ketamine use increases.
For those interested in the history of psychedelic research…
I wrote a narrative piece describing studies of psychedelic effects on serotonergic neurons in the dorsal raphe, from late 1960s to 1980s:

Instead of harping on about opening some shipping straight or securing petrol supplies, imagine if our public figures said the solution was lobbying for these wars to stop. That is the real reason petrol is so expensive.
Maybe sanctions against those countries perpetuating the instability?
