The former mansion designed by PM Bruce is for sale in Frankston, Victoria. Completed just a year before The Lodge in 1926, its influence on the design of The Lodge is evident. The Bruces' spent a year at the residence before moving to The Lodge when parliament moved to Canberra from Melbourne.

Happy birthday to Stanley Bruce, born OTD in 1883. Prime Minister Bruce and his wife Ethel were the first residents of The Lodge, moving in on the 5th of May, 1927.

Peter Dutton has confirmed he won't live in The Lodge full time if elected PM. "We will live in Kirribilli," Dutton said Monday. ”We love Sydney, we love the harbour, it's a great city, and so yes. You've got the choice between Kirribilli or living in Canberra, l'll take Sydney any day.”
