I am a lot more aware of depictions of women in media than I was earlier in my life. And while I have an understanding that an on-the-front WWII book will likely have fewer women characters, seeing ALL the women land as just "types" is disappointing. ๐ช

More #catch22. I guess I need to give up on the idea of a book told in chronological order.
Also, I too, wish to live forever or die trying.
My favorite bit of today's selection from #catch22 is Clevinger saying that they aren't trying to kill Yossarian, they're trying to kill everyone. (It's amusing in context.)
I've never read it, but it's been lurking on my TBR. I'm in! #catch22
I'd glossed right over the other typos in what @scottsrobots.bsky.social had posted ("cytologist", "IBF"). Must be a badly-scanned-to-digital copy.
Please refer to @howdoyou.guide bsky.app/profile/howd...
Listening to the backlog of the @friends-table.bsky.social podcast, and once again, @notquitereal.bsky.social 's music takes my focus so I need to rewind and listen to what people are actually saying. Makes me want to take up the clarinet again. Find his Bandcamp if you aren't into AP podcasts.
These are tight on me! Maybe the next pair.
A pair of blue and gray plaid socks
Finished knitting some socks!
Boy, he would have hated it when the rarely used data was stored on a tape stack.
Did you know that you should drive better when the weather is bad?
Gap in sock, with two stitches circled.
Pick up one stitch beyond the place you put the the afterthought heel (on each side), when you attach the heel yarn. It will make the heel slightly bigger, but it should still fit about the same.
You can also sew the hole closed with the tail of the yarn when you are weaving in the ends.
I love it in red!
Oh, she does Sock Madness as well? Yay socks!
People use turn signals?
When are you planning to announce the next book? I'm ready for cozy season!
Thanks for the heads up.
Beautiful. Thank you for sharing. What fiber did you use for the reeds at the water's edge?
For a wee bit of levity, please picture the "truck-hauling monkeys' that I did when I first read the headline.
That would be a lot easier than the random assortment of S-Hooks and paper clips I used on the loose threads of my last weave. I'll have to grab some binder clips...
Is the pulse pounding drama in the room with us?
Can you share a link to the pattern and yarn colors you've selected. Those are delightful.
Do I need to ask if you're OK?
Potatoes?
How about we fund hospitals well enough that a "normal day" in the ER doesn't involve people sitting in the hallway for 12 hours?
It's stuck again ๐
What yarn (weight) are you using? Diamond twill is on my list of things to try, and I'm wondering what will work best with the heddles I have. (I have two 30/10 heddles like what you're showing.)
Hi @npr.org! We worked late tonight putting together this handy pocket guide!
It doesn't address road design issues, but if we're going to educate road users, we should include drivers.
It's the size of a folded business card. Print it, fold it, put it in your wallet!
