I love my job. I get to work on some really old equipment which is really cool, seeing how stuff worked years ago. Today I got to work on an IBM I/O Mainframe and a Sun Systems Tape Library.
These I/O cards are an absolute menace. They break if you look at them too hard.
VPN vendors have huge budgets to advertise on your favorite podcasts.
We don't have marketing for the IETF, browser and OS security teams, CAs (Let's Encrypt), CDNs, researchers, open source authors, website builders, digital rights activists...
We made the web secure and didn't tell anyone.

drivers is something most users shouldn’t need to worry about. I agree that Linux is great for people like those you listed. (2/2)
A good example off the top of my head is that GNOME (at least in RHEL 9 and Ubuntu 22.04 that I’ve encountered) struggles with certain drivers with at minimum laptop touchpads and gesture based scrolling. There are workarounds such as third party drivers but installing (1/2)

frequently recommended distributions for moving from Windows (Ubuntu etc.) still require a jump in technical know how that Windows just handles for you. The closest argument is MacOS since it’s UI is very intuitive and it’s Unix based but that’s not what I see (2/3)
The Linux only movement really confuses me. I use Linux for work and for my hobbyist projects. There is so much more technical know how required to use Linux for basically anything. I don’t expect the average user to care enough to learn about using a terminal and even the most (1/3)
Is everybody believing in the servers? If you don't believe in the servers they don't work
There's no legitimate business case where traffic should be permitted to leave the subnet. In fact, most viruses and ransomware occur outside of the local subnet. APIPA solves Enterprise Network security!
A field of thousands of small galaxies of various shapes and colors on the black background of space. A bright, foreground star with diffraction spikes is at lower left. Near the image center, a tiny white box outlines a region and two diagonal lines lead to a box in the upper right. Within the box is a banana-shaped blob that is blueish-red in one half and distinctly red in the other half. An arrow points to the redder portion and is labeled “JADES GS z 14 – 0”.
Most distant object known to humanity.
Found by JWST, JADES-GS-z14-0 is the most distant galaxy ever discovered. It's located 13.6 billion light years from us, and since it takes time for light to travel, we see it as it was only 290 million years after the Big Bang.

Today's firewall requests require we all collectively believe today is Saturday, and we agree to just go back to sleep for a bit.
