Classic Glenn. 😏

Truth in advertising, this is actually how much money I make
A panel from Action Comics #1 showing Superman meeting Lois Lane for the first time. He's saying, "you needn't be afraid of me. I won't harm you" as he leans in menacingly, forcing Lois to recoil.
Your words say one thing, your body language says another, Superman. 😏
According to Roy's rules, Stan Lee should be credited as co-creator of the Vision, since it was Stan's idea to make him a new character and an android. Roy had wanted to use the original Vision from 1940.
I remember working in an office that had a radio tuned to Virgin Radio when that insipid piece of crap was a hit and they played it every hour on the goddamn hour for weeks! It's a miracle I didn't throw the radio - or myself - out the window.
Happy #SupermanDay. One of the greatest characters in fiction, and also a cautionary tale about the propensity of big business to take advantage of creators.
This might be my favorite image of Superman, just before he could fly, at the apogee of his arc, before gravity took hold one last time.
An ornate circular design with the Eye of Agamotto at the top surrounds an earnest-looking Doctor Strange as he strides directly towards us firing lightning bolts from his hands, his cloak billowing around his shoulders. Behind him, an unconscious Clea lies suspended in mid-air. Artwork by Frank Brunner from 1975. #doctorstrange #Marvel #comics #comicsky
Frank Brunner's original artwork for the cover of the Doctor Strange Treasury Edition.
A drawing of the Thing looking quizzical with one eyebrow raised, a cigar hanging out of his mouth and a speech balloon with a "?" in it.
I love this Thing by Adam Murphy.
Why didn't DC want it to sell well?
Tales to Astonish #59.
Hulk-snap! This was Hulk's first appearance in Tales to Astonish. Next issue, he got his own strip in the book after his own title had been cancelled with #6.
Promotional image showing Zatanna and Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman’s sexuality has played a bizarre role in the history of the comics medium as a whole, and with Absolute Wonder Woman, Thompson and team have an opportunity to add a new chapter in the complex and complicated history of Wonder Woman’s sexuality. #wonderwoman 1/14
Doctor Strange sits in the lotus position with his back to us, floating in space. "I must meditate... attempt to comprehend the cosmos... for only through knowledge can true salvation come." #doctorstrange #Marvel #comics #comicsky
"I must meditate... attempt to comprehend the cosmos..."
Big Barda, Marv from Sin City, Supergirl, Galactus.
the irony of having a one-on-one HR layoff meeting in the conference room with my Loki mural on it
This seems... short-sighted.
Which is weird, because France *loves* bande dessinée! 🤷♂️
And on their website, when you finally find the guest list that includes artists, they come below the dog from the Deadpool movie. 🫤
I've a feeling I'll probably forget again in a few days...
Deadpool was introduced in New Mutants a year before your cut-off point, but he was nothing to do with Claremont. I think the gang who took over from Claremont probably kept most of their new characters to launch Image Comics.
Did I mention how much I love this run..?
Thanks! I'll check them out. 👍
It was a weird time at DC Comics. I wrote a bit about it here:

Jason Bateman, Linda Cardellini and Jason Bateman in HBO's #DTFstlouis.
I shall miss my weekly dose of weirdness courtesy of DTF St. Louis. It was alternately hilarious and tragic, always strange, and with a brilliant score from Alex Wurman. Also, the pairing of Joy Sunday and Richard Jenkins was inspired. Would love to see them investigate more cases together.
Ah, Lois... never one to shy away from controversy. 😬
Now you've got me all wistful for Yorkshire because the hill in the background looks like Ingleborough near where I used to live. Look forward to seeing the finished painting!
One for die-hard Marvel fans; "Herb Trimpe, We Love You." A student film from 1970, in which you get a glimpse of the cupboard-sized Marvel Bullpen, in which Herb, John Verpoorten, Marie Severin & Tony Mortarello are all squeezed, at 635 Madison Avenue. Plus Flo Steinberg!

Every time I see a clip of The Sound of Music, I'm like..."there's Spider-Man!"
Where can you go after the Metaverse fiasco? Only down, it seems! 😵💫
