im not very good at shading myself, but thats what i know! this picture describes it well :]

very cute!! any advice id really have would be to not blur your shadows near shapes that are next to eachother, like for example in the picture below. it makes the shading a bit flat, whereas if you put a "hard" shadow in the area between the hand and tail, it would the shapes more... tangible?
