Closeup photography of the newly painted pink, purple and blue backdrop showing the Eye of Terror galaxy with a big tear opening up from the center of the spiral galaxy and toward the bottom left on the backdrop.
Side-by-side comparison of the close-up image of the current WIP state of the Abaddon project. On the left is my miniature interpretation of the art on the right, the original and iconic warhammer artwork "eye of terror" by Karl Kopinski. The paintjob so far is mostly held in black primer, red, orange and yellow fire and heat-osl from below and, newly painted, is the pink, purple and blue backdrop showing the Eye of Terror galaxy with a big tear opening up from the center of the spiral galaxy and toward the bottom left on the backdrop.
Side-by-side comparison of the close-up image of the current WIP state of the Abaddon project on the left and a rendered digital art version the "eye of terror" galaxy I painted on the backdrop. The right side image of the digital reference also has a quick silhouette sketch of the protagonist, which helped me map out where and how to position the freehanded galaxy. The newly painted galaxy background is done in pink, purple and blue.
After all the great practice in freehanding galaxy stuff I got from the Apollon chariot project, I was well prepared for the Eye of Terror backdrop!
Usually backdrops only set the scene but on this piece it's very important for the piece in many ways!
