Do the math, people. It's not that hard.
We already know Everything is Tuberculosis. I'm really hoping they don't backslide so far that bubonic plague comes back

Nick Fury's tombstone in Captain America: Winter Soldier has the (fake) Ezekiel verse from Samuel L Jackson's character in Pulp Fiction KJV version of what they were going for 14 And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel: and they shall do in Edom according to mine anger and according to my fury; and they shall know my vengeance, saith the Lord God. 15 Thus saith the Lord God; Because the Philistines have dealt by revenge, and have taken vengeance with a despiteful heart, to destroy it for the old hatred; 16 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will stretch out mine hand upon the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethims, and destroy the remnant of the sea coast. 17 And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes; and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them.
I find the alt text to be a very useful way to convey information. It can't fit into the text of a post.
Top: "The Big Stick in the Caribbean Sea" by William Allen Rogers, published in the New York Herald around 1904. You can see Rogers' signature "W.A.R." in the lower left. It depicts TR as a giant wading through the Caribbean, big stick raised, leading a line of U.S. gunboats labeled things like "The Receiver," "Debt Collector," and "The Sheriff" — with Santo Domingo, Cuba, Panama, and Mexico visible around the shoreline. It's a direct visual commentary on the Roosevelt Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine. Bottom: Generated by my prompt to ideogram.ai Three-panel political cartoon strip, vintage newspaper illustration style, minimalist color, same aesthetic as early 1900s editorial cartoons. Panel 1: Donald Trump in exaggerated caricature swinging a large wooden club labeled "BIG STICK" at a figure representing Iran. Trump looks smug and triumphant. Panel 2: Trump dwarfed by an enormous wooden club he can barely hold, labeled "BIGGER STICK." The top of the club is shaped like a mushroom cloud. Trump has a wide boastful grin and a speech bubble that reads "I HAVE THE BIGGEST STICK." Panel 3: Trump sitting contentedly, eating a giant taco the same size as the club from panel 1. His expression is blissful. No stick in sight. All three panels are equal width, horizontal strip format, clean panel borders, consistent caricature of Trump across all panels. The three panels can be whatever height is necessary, but their width should match the reference image. Do not include the reference image, I will assemble the final product myself.
Rude!
This is such an insidious problem. AI is getting so much better at writing that it can be a very difficult to determine what things are written by AI and what aren't. There are obvious bad examples of AI writing, especially when it comes to humor, but this is a snare that can catch great writers.
That looks like fun! I haven't rappelled since I was in college

Political cartoon meme comparing Trump's two terms: Term 1 as the classic slow boil frog metaphor, Term 2 as the same frog getting tased with a 'Decisive Action!' speech bubble. Created by Jeff Hancock using Ideogram AI.

With the April date tag, this feels like it could apply to falling for April Fools jokes, but continuing to critically follow the news, whereas others may be lost in the abyss of conspiracy thinking.
I'm a NYT subscriber, and I see many missed opportunities to provide context to stories. I'm also a Washington Post subscriber and there I see many missed opportunities to report the news at all.

Protesters gather in front of the Vienna Inn, established 1960, on Maple Avenue in the Town of Vienna, Virginia during the No Kings 3 event, March 28, 2026. The Vienna Inn is a beloved local landmark and gathering place. No Kings is a nationwide protest movement opposing what participants describe as executive overreach by the Trump administration. This photo is part of a four-post Substack series covering protests at Fair Lakes, Ravensworth, Vienna, and McLean in Northern Virginia on the same day. Each post pairs photos with verbatim interview transcripts — name, hometown, and what brought each person out — published in chronological order without editorial bias. Interviews were recorded in the field, transcribed via OpenAI Whisper, and lightly edited to remove filler words. The photographer covered all four locations wearing a US Press Association press credential.
