In the minority, I’m sure, but I have the opposite experience. I am almost invariably disappointed when I try to re-read a favorite book. I almost never “match up” as well as I did when I loved it the first time. So I focus on finding new great books to read.

“Houskeeping” by Marilyne Robinson is a great story. The best book I read in 2024.
