I love this. I want to do this but I don't think my skills fit. I'm a teacher. I think this is aimed at corporate types.

I would use their definition. I do find the terminology 'controlled for' overlaps with this.

The replies and quotes to this shows that there is a lot of antisemitic stuff on here. All of them 'whataboutism' for other communities suffering. Palestine and the LGBTQ+ struggle is not served by diminishing other struggles, it is just intolerance.

Meet James Bembridge, the Reform candidate for Westminster in next month’s local elections.

As well as this tweet, Temu Lex Luthor here, has also been quoted as saying "Most NHS nurses look like they're eating food banks out of business."

Don’t let him get his deposit back.

Hi all,
Just a reminder that Y11 data is due in tomorrow. Enter the following:
Current grade
Estimated grade
Target grade
Residual grade based on shoe size
Postcode: nice houses means higher grades
Grade if they’d have done any work
Grade they’d have got if they’d had a better teacher
Thanks x

BBC today correct Nigel Farage's false claim to Nick Robinson on Political Thinking (13th February 2026) that net migration was only down due to an "exodus" of people leaving the UK since 90% of net migration fall was a fall in immigration. After my 3rd complaint!

I feel I have found a home with the greens. They aren't perfect but they get a lot of the big stuff right.

However the hate against the Jewish community expressed by a candidate is terrible and needs action.

Elections 2026: The Five Battlegrounds There are local elections in the UK every May, and every year I do a preview.

New post:

"Elections 2026: The Five Battlegrounds"

With national politics fragmenting I've sorted all councils up for election outside London into five groups to help explain how things are evolving.

Incl predictions for all 104 councils.

I am ashamed that these comments have come from a green party candidate and I hope that more robust vetting is put in place.

Richard Bingley branches out from Tories, Labour and Ukip to stand for Reform Much travelled councillor who quit Plymouth after cutting down of 110 trees to contest Thurrock in May election

@dorianlynskey.bsky.social this feels like a proper old school brutal political comment: “He became leader because he was the least-worst option. And then he was gone. It looks like Plymouth’s loss will now be Thurrock’s loss.”

I like planning topics and booklets help with flexibility. They allow you to speed up or slow down if you have content for multiple sessions in one place.

My question ultimately was who isn't taking A level maths that has a 6 and could get a good grade. Have they self-selected those with the best chance? Are they a fair average? Are they weaker than average? Will larger cohorts have similar distributions? We don't know and guessing isn't helpful

Another question that would be great to have answered: do other subjects support (or at least correlate with) higher A level maths grades. There was some work I remember seeing that said students taking Core maths got higher biology grades than those taking A level maths. It was only one school.

Many maths teachers have little experience of mixed ability teaching. Teaching grade 5 to 9 is alien to some and provokes concern. Opening up A level classrooms to more grade 5 & 6 students is a noble aim (IMO) but it needs to be carefully prepared for and well supported.

Using C or better as a 'good' pass, grade 5 & 6 students get approximately 949 good passes at A level. This is 0.03 of all good passes. If we double the number of 5 & 6 students will we get double the number of good passes? If we have 10 times?

I think a lot of the discussion here is on % but I want to talk about the 220. That is 0.006 of all entries. The 5 and the 6 students make up about 0.08 together. What I don't have is how many 5 and 6 want to take A level but aren't allowed and how many start but don't end up in these figures.

100% and that can be hard to get across in chats but where a scheme can flesh things out. I once thought about leaving all the stats/mech until after Christmas year 2.

Very interested to see the finished scheme. A lot of what you say makes perfect sense and we have already done. The word 'slog' comes up a lot when discussing the idea of teaching all the diff or integration or trig all in one block.

Yesterday I was asked a question live on @lbc.co.uk by @mrjamesob.bsky.social :

What happens if the United States intercepts a Chinese cargo vessel in the Strait of Hormuz?

At the time, I said I didn’t want to think about it.

Since then, I have.

This is Scottish Labour's 'fix' for trans people. There are some very obvious issues with these approaches.

The Telegraph just gave a convicted criminal a two-page spread to explain why he's pumping £4 million into Reform UK. They tucked his criminal record away in the small print. So as a former financial crime specialist I’ll do their job for them👇

Many, many media outlets do not really know how to handle technological change like this

The 28th Virginia battle flag is a Confederate battle flag that belonged to the 28th Virginia Infantry Regiment. Captured by the 1st Minnesota Infantry Regiment at the Battle of Gettysburg, the flag was brought to Minnesota and exhibited at the state's capitol for several years before passing into the permanent collection of the Minnesota Historical Society after 1896 where it has remained since.

Happy Confederate Surrender Day from Minnesota where we still have your goddamn flag and we’re not giving it up.

I know this one: trans kids! I don't know how they did this but the TV, newspaper, and social media convinced me they are to blame. Pronouns are why Iran is getting nuked later.

This is a good thing. But how much time and effort is being put into people who are in the top 50% of UK earners? This is a middle/higher income issue, not a low income problem by definition. We need to do more for those earning the least.
