Yeah, it was a very surprising and exciting email to get. I'm thinking of making a detour to see it in person during a possible upcoming trip that sort of passes nearby.

My working assumption is that the vibe of an indie game shop is very different than that of say, an indie book shop in that whether retro or new games, they are very focused on known commercial games.

Passion for indie art seems generally lower in digital games compared to other mediums.

There are these massive infrastructures around games that seem like they would be easy pitches but they aren't and feel focused almost solely on this narrow field of commercial industry releases so you gotta look in unexpected places or just do your own thing.

The first place to carry Indiepocalypse being a cafe after receiving repeated disinterest from game shops feels like a perfect encapsulation of maybe the whole alternative game experience I've went through these last years.

I'm biased (obvs) but I'd also say that I'm not some hapless fool with no taste who learned about art and games 6 years ago and started slapping collections together randomly.

These games routinely intrigue and excite me and think there's a lot more people who'd feel the same way.
