Looking forward to tomorrow's papers, when exactly none of Ireland's columnists, who are usually so keen to tone-police every single aspect of civil discourse, will stand up for Eileen.
When people tell you who they are. believe them.

Screenshot of the CnaG AthGhaelú page on decolonisation, that reads:

"There is an undeniable link between ReGaelicisation and decolonisation. Decolonisation involves identifying colonial systems, structures and relationships, and working to challenge those systems. Decolonisation is seen all over the world in post-colonial places, and in places still under colonial control. Other place names are being decolonised; other examples are Mumbai in India, and Aotearoa, the indigenous name for New Zealand.

In the Gaeltacht, efforts are still being made to have only Irish placenames accepted, and in the North, organisations such as An Dream Dearg are supporting residents in demanding bilingual street signs from the authorities. Decolonisation is an ongoing process, as colonialism is still taking root and prevailing throughout the world. Tel Aviv used to be called Jaffa, and in Anglophone countries Gaza is pronounced with a hard G, although natively Gaza is pronounced 'Ghasa' with an aspirated G that we also have in Irish, so it is clear that the lens of English still influences our knowledge of the world. Today, solidarity is demonstrated with other places around the world, not only to convey a message, but to make a connection between the global cause of decolonisation and our own struggle.

In the Irish psyche, there is great importance placed on being rooted in a particular place. Campaigns for ReGaelicisation have also happened before, and are still being undertaken today, influenced in part by Douglas Hyde’s 1892 lecture "The Necessity for De-Anglicising Ireland", which argued that Ireland was losing its unique identity by imitating English language, culture, and customs.

Thanks to Martin Keenan from Bayview Media for the photographs and videos.
Thanks to Ciaraíoch for the AthGhaelú lógó"

They've also created a Gealltanas Logainmneacha "to encourage individuals and groups to use Irish-only placenames" #SpéirGhorm

How Ireland's far-right movement got involved in the fuel protests and tried to hijack them While many are protesting fuel costs, far-right actors and international figures are using the movement to push anti-immigrant narratives.

What a well written article that details the far-right element of the fuel protests. Well worth a read.

[4] … ‘choose’ it? I saw choose, but it’s not a choice & like other Queer communities it’s not a lifestyle. It’s who you are & it’s a perfectly normal part of human behaviour for a tiny minority. Humans are diverse, no matter how much the far right hates that. They just want identikit drones.

[3] … encouraged to transition! The bonkerness of this is that the most persecuted group in Western society is trans! Gay men & Lesbians are probably the most accepted group in the Queer community amongst the Straight majority. Frankly, the hatred towards trans ppl is so extreme, why would one …

🧵 I’m so tired of the far right’s inhumanity. In the 1930s they were scapegoating Jews, today it’s trans kids & adults. The lies are insane, but US GOP or UK Labour govts don’t care. They just want to establish ppl to hate, ppl to blame. Trans surgery is illegal on minors, for instance* [1]

Wanted to say that Adam SpiceBag Doyle (the eviction mural guy) has done incredible work to absolutely no acclaim in the background relating to Gaza.
The young fella is an under appreciated hero.

Performative levels of West Brittery. Like a poseurish teenage mosher, insisting he's never listened to George Michael, or suchlike. The holy, mortifying embarrassment.

Then it's not the Occupied Territories Bill.
To repeat myself - the Irish people strongly support the people of Palestine, the Irish government most certainly does not.

THE MACHINE - BY DESIGN - IS ALLOWING PEOPLE TO REMOVE WOMEN'S CLOTHING WITHOUT THEIR CONSENT AND TO MAKE CSAM.

How are we at 'good sides to it too, you know?'?

Noteworthy too that the Irish "adults in the room" who are normally so keen on "protecting our women and girls" from, for example, the existence of trans people, have so far done the sum total of fuck all to protect them from all of this.

It is literally the easiest political win in the world right now - no normal, right-thinking person is going to sacrifice anything to defend Musk's CSAM generator.
The culture war they have all been longing for is now on their doorstep, and, all of a sudden, "it's complicated ..."

The Irish govt is so afraid of Musk's political power that it will do nothing to prevent the monetisation and dissemination of CSAM on X - to quote the odious gowl who now owns the platform, let that sink in.
Not only should they have left the platform en masse, the Dublin offices should be raided.
