Three screenshots pasted together. Nott, a small green goblin woman with black hair and lots of bandages, and Beau, a tall, muscular human woman with medium brown skin and dark hair in a topknot, are talking. Beau says "I weirdly want to beat his ass but also...hug him right now," to which Nott replies "I wouldn't. The smell won't come off your clothes for days."

About to watch the last two episodes of The Mighty Nein and guess who's been my fav character right from the start. Guess who I latched onto like a baby duckling. GUESS.

(Yes, it's Caleb the dumpsterfire wizard. Obviously. I'm nothing if not predictable 🤣)

Massive shout-out here to everyone else unwillingly walking the "chronic problem--obvious solutions--yoga!" conversational treadmill.

If you are the person recommending yoga, from the bottom of my heart, please stop it. Just stop.

But like. If I feel talked over (can work - but very few suitable jobs due to limitations, can't *find* a job on my own at all, can't pass an interview, need and rely on systemic help). How bad must it feel for people who e.g. will never be able to live on their own?

It's not all the same.

Online conversations about autism & disability are so immensely frustrating as someone who 1) has significant support needs when it comes to employment 2) has spent a few years in environments where different disabilities are normal

Struggling with how to word it without coming across as an asshole

BABIES 🥰

The white one is very similar to a kitten I often see on one of the windows on my way to work ❤️

Anything involving boiled beef that's left over from making soup. Horrendous dry stringy flavourless stuff. Especially if cold.

And that's putting aside my dislike of pork, cabbage, and most forms of potato that disqualifies like 90% of it 😂

With painting specifically, I feel like being outright FORBIDDEN to post would help a lot with the pressure of not feeling good enough honestly 😂

Would I produce something I liked? Probably! But that's a sacrifice I'd be willing to make if I had infinite funds to take lessons and fuck around.

There's SO much. Take painting courses. Photography since I never post anyway, except I could get a nice camera instead of making do with a phone. Jewelry. Learn how to work with hot foil properly. etc etc etc

(CW sexual harassment - I don't even know the gender of my harasser, I just saw a phone over the stall divider and ran. Though now that I think of it, I was similarly harassed several years before that too, by a cis girl.)

Either way.

Don't use my trauma for your transphobia. Fuck you.

Absolutely infuriates me as someone who WAS harassed in a bathroom.

If they actually cared about cases like mine, they'd push for stalls with full length dividers/doors. That was the only thing that made me feel safe for a few years after.

One of the public bathrooms I felt safest in? Unisex.

And I HATE IT when people try to reverse uno with "oh well if you don't like these books for girls you must have internalized sexism."

I am not conforming to gender norms in my reading taste, they're angry about it and I'M the one with internalized sexism?

And you can find subversion of gender norms, I get it, but when push comes to shove, classic lit for girls pushes marriage as the ultimate goal and sweetness is often the way to get there.

As a fiery tomboy, it annoyed the living hell out of me.

If being left behind by ai would mean they would actually leave me alone and not force their ai on me, I would be happy to be left in the dust

Coloratura
Poised beneath a twig-wigged tree,
she spills her sparkling vocal powder:
slippery sound slivers, silvery
like spider’s spittle, only louder.
Oh yes, she Cares (with a high C)
for Fellow Humans (you and me);
for us she’ll twitter nothing bitter;
she’ll knit her fitter, sweeter glitter;
her vocal chords mince words for us
and crumble croutons, with crisp crunch
(lunch for her little lambs to munch)
into a cream-filled demitasse.
But hark! It’s dark! Oh doom too soon!
She’s threatened by the black bassoon!
It’s hoarse and coarse, it’s grim and gruff,
it calls her dainty voice’s bluff -
Basso Profondo, end this terror,
do-re-mi mene tekel et cetera!
You want to silence her, abduct her
to our chilly life behind the scenes?
To our Siberian steppes of stopped-up sinuses,
frogs in all throats, eternal hems and haws,
where we, poor souls, gape soundlessly
like fish? And this is what you wish?
Oh nay! Oh nay! Though doom be nigh,
she’ll keep her chin and pitch up high!
Her fate is hanging by a hair
of voice so thin it sounds like air,
but that’s enough for her to take
a breath and soar, without a break,
chandelierward; and while she’s there,
her vox humana crystal-clears
the whole world up. And we’re all ears.
- Wislawa Szymborska

God it still chokes me up nearly twenty years after the first time I read it.

I was already excited about new Kai Ashante Wilson but… omg. Cannot wait to see what he does with this.

If there’s ever a book I’d give a kidney for an arc of when they start offering them to reviewers, it’ll be this one.

Also a year looking for a copy of Moby Dick. Could one. Could one mayhaps. Could one mayhaps say that specific edition was her white whale? 🤣

Mood on not knowing when 😂

The hunt was half the fun for me too. I spent like two days looking at options (if I was gonna do it, I was gonna do it in style), narrowed it down to two hardcovers, but both turned out to be preorders, so it came down to "July or September" 💀

4 days ago 2 0 1 0

Is this where I confess that I'll be joining the whale club sometime this summer too

(I've been vaguely thinking about it for a month or so, found an exceptionally pretty copy, but it won't arrive until July)

Hot off the presses!
Some people think I'm a stereotype of a nerd 🤓, but isn't that kind of a cliché?

Let's talk about how "stereotype" & "cliché" were invented by the printing press.

Movable type depended on typesetters putting little letter blocks (a 'sort' or 'type') in 'forms'.

Like, in our modern world of constant pressure to optimize our output, there is something very soul-healing about thinking “hm. My knitting tension is always out of wack. I do not anticipate becoming better at it” and then keep on knitting anyway
