Visited Kapiti Island nature reserve for first time in over a decade today. Absolute chorus of native birds thronging in the blooming rata. Kākā, hihi, korimako, tĩeke, kākāriki, koekoeā. Really satisfying to realise how many I can identify by sound after years of listening intently in the bush
