The county and local governments all have tight budgets. How can the County work with local governments (and the State) to make sure everyone can get the funding they need while balancing tax fatigue of voters and property tax/levy limits?

It's local election season in my town, so here's my periodic reminder that one of the best things you can do is get involved in local politics. These races have a major impact on your daily life and often swing on dozens of votes. Canvassing and outreach can make a massive difference.
Chart showing a big jump from 2024 to 2025 in the number of pre-application proposed residential units. No year has ever gone above 1000 until that year
After adopting housing reforms that included eliminating parking mandates and increased density limits throughout the city, Bothell has seen a major jump in pre-applications for residential projects.
Average number of units entering pre-application over the past 5 years: 580
In 2025: 1000+
I feel like Kirkland (Costco) or Nintendo as a sponsor would really unite people (and make a ton of money) 😆
Minneapolis has seen a stunning 1,646% spike in calls from families who can't pay rent because they're afraid to leave their homes to work.
This is state violence manufacturing housing precarity in real time.
People should not be facing eviction when their city is under occupation.

Hello! This originally was my campaign account. I'm converting it to a personal account. I will add a councilmember handle shortly and it will be in my bio. Going forward this account has my personal views and do not represent any official position. Thank you!!

Ugh, my bike is affected and have kept the battery in the shed while I waited for the safe battery to re-stock, guess that’s not happening, whomp whomp 😖 gonna be a lot harder to go grocery shopping 🙃
This is my second year attending the Urbanist holiday party and am so excited to be speaking this year! Join us, it’s a great time and great opportunity to talk with so many local Urbanists and advocates 🙂
I believe, and I heard it at the doors too, that people want solutions beyond incarceration. And turning down a million dollars and suing the county ain’t it! Happy to work with councilors and the community on a real way forward!
Just wanted to extend a heartfelt thanks to Stephanie Mora for her service to our community and her kind concession. I look forward to serving all people in Burien, not just those who voted for me, and working to improve our city 😊❤️ Thank you to everyone who supported me this last year!
It’s election day!!! Vote! 🗳️ And make sure to put those ballots in county elections drop boxes to ensure that they’re counted.

what I love about e-bikes and the world of small electric mobility is that it is a full scale transportation revolution no one saw coming but that nonetheless has the power to address air pollution death & illness, climate change, traffic violence, affordability, and also social isolation & anxiety
Diversity doesn’t weaken unions. Racist bosses like Vance using racism to divide workers by race so they can exploit them weakens unions. All this stuff is arsonists complaining about the temperature in the building they set on fire. bsky.app/profile/diew...

With millions at risk of losing SNAP in the coming days, a reminder: hunger doesn't happen in isolation. When food assistance disappears, families use rent money to eat. Then come evictions and homelessness.
Housing, food, healthcare—it's all connected. Cut one thread and the whole thing unravels.
"The Urbanist elections committee doesn’t choose our endorsement based on lifestyle but it’s hard to find a candidate who lives urbanist values more than DeVito. He doesn’t own a car, traveling by e-bike & transit. He’s a KC Metro employee & former vice chair of the Burien Planning Commission."
Most folks know how passionate I am about street safety, housing, and transit. So it will come as no surprise how thrilled I am to have the endorsement of so many transportation organizations. Thank you so much for the support @theurbanist.org @seattletru.bsky.social, WA Bikes and Transportation4WA!
I'm proud to be a member of ProTec17 and to have the support of so many labor unions! I'm happy to stand with my union siblings to fight for working people, tackling affordability, housing, and safe streets! Thank you for the support #mlklabor #protec17 #ufcw3000 #seiu6 #teamsters117 #atu587 #iam751
Absolutely insane that the protest was routed across 3rd Ave and they’ve blocked all buses for 45 min. Who at the City authorized or planned this?! Total transit gridlock, prepare for crush loads and schedule mayhem for the rest of the day!
Great advice for all voters - return directly if possible:
“To ensure that your ballot counts this year, it’s vital that you return it using a drop box so that it goes straight to your county elections office”

It’s imperative that Burien welcomes new neighbors in all our neighborhoods, we need to all contribute to meeting our housing goals and keeping services going for all residents!
That’s a good looking cow! It makes me think of an old food truck that had this beauty…the arc of the condiments!
