As a result, symptoms like bloating, constipation, or discomfort can still occur even if you haven’t eaten carbohydrates—or any food—for 24 hours or more.

"Starving" methanogens isn’t an effective strategy and may even disrupt gut health by depriving beneficial bacteria of the nutrients they need.

Even during extended fasting, gut bacteria can metabolize residual material in the digestive tract, such as mucins, sloughed-off cells, and leftover unfermented fibers. This metabolism produces gases like hydrogen, which methanogens can then convert into methane.

Methanogens are archaea (microorganisms similar to bacteria) that don’t require carbohydrates to generate methane as they do not grow using fermentation or alternative electron acceptors for respiration. Instead, they use alternative substrates, such as H₂ gas and CO₂ to generate methane.

Fruits are not the villain here.

What we've done with them (juice, conserves, preserves, sauces, cakes, etc.) is BAD.

People are unfairly criticizing fruits for their fructose content & claiming you should avoid them.

That's just from looking at the evidence with lack of nuance.

Many fruits can be incredibly healthy, especially wild/old cultivars, which are rich in fiber, vitamin C & polyphenols, ...
