Every single person I know and met has an element of their past they're not proud of, or learned or grew from. Everyone I know has thought and/or done something they today regret, or abhor. Anyone who believes otherwise of themselves is dangerously delusional at best, a dangerous liar at worst.

You can be a good person & still have a past that would ruin your reputation at the wrong dinner table. Life is weird like that. Sometimes your worst years are what make you better later. And sometimes the reason you're so careful now is because you remember the damage you were capable of. That's the uncomfortable origin story of a lot of good people. Turns out shame can grow a conscience if you let it.
