This week was vegetable week in my grade 2/3/4/5 class Complete with broccoli salad. Many students said they didn’t like broccoli but were willing to try it. I think we may have changed a few minds about broccoli. #foodforus #bcdairy #elementaryteaching

Yesterday, we did our first food testing of a BC product as a part of our Food for Us program. Learning about cranberries was a big hit with students and a few had never tried them before. #bcdairy #bcaitc #bccranberry

I have many jobs in the school and one I’m really proud of is teaching all the kids from k-7 at least an hour a week. I also really like this collaborative project we did as a school and gifted to our municipal government. #collaborativeart #funproject
I’m taking a course this week-Agriculture in the Classroom. My hope is that it helps me lead our school through adventures in school gardening and thinking about how we can help students deal with food insecurity through teaching them life skills. #sketchnotes #agriculture #adventuresinteaching
Compassionate systems leadership called my name again. #compassionatesystemsleadership #sketchnote
I forgot what it was like to just play with markers with no expectation of a product. The process was joyful and time consuming.
Now is the time for some self-care!
Words for my feelings:

These are the books that sit in my brain as I serve as a school leader. Everyday I strive to get a little better with what I have learned from them. #principal #principalbooks #schoolleader #leadership
This week’s guest speaker for UBC’s Assessment for Equity course was Sukaina Walji who shared key principles for how to assess learners fairly by providing multiple avenues to demonstrate learning.#ubc #sketchnotes

This may sound wacky but doodling at the end of the day is the only way I get to sleep. I just like the feel of the lines as they glide across the paper and I never know what will happen. It’s my form of therapy. #teachingcanbehard
Are you bringing it back again?
A restaurant board sign that reads: “we are not all in the same boat. We are in the same storm. Some have yachts. Some have canoes. And some are drowning. Just be kind and help when you can.
I love this.
We added a few nsyilxcən words this week as we reflected on our learning adventures in the falling snow. I really loved seeing the excitement on students faces as they took on playground time as builders of snow creations or tried sit spots in the snow. #learningfromtheland #outdooreducation
Be okay with making mistakes and learning from them. We are all learners on a journey towards being the best versions of ourselves.
The time of snow is here! First snow is always exciting and I love how the land is still. The silence is relaxing.
We signed up at the end of the last school year to become a Wild School. Even the ideas within the website are great places to start and also CBEEN (cbeen.ca/workshops/) has free webinars for outdoor educators. www.hctfeducation.ca/programs/
I'm glad that someone with more technical know how is bringing the bced community together in a new place! Thank you for doing this!
My first blue sky post is my latest sketchnote reflections on leading a rural school as we grow comfort in outdoor education, weaving in Indigenous principles, and learning from the land. #sketchnotes #bced #ruralschool #outdooreducation #learningfromtheland
