@nworbmot.bsky.social is doing really important stuff again, simulating how methanol (instead of hydrogen) could be the fuel to power a system otherwise mainly running on solar, wind and batteries. SUPER interesting paper.

Good job, spreading the word!!
How does that work? Who do I sell it to?
Well, the orchard we visited had zero renewables installed. Hell, the pumps for irrigation weren’t even electric. Four diesel-engine driven pumps. Actually quite disappointed with this country, when it comes to the green transition….
Are you involved in politics?
Agora Energiwende pointed to focus on clusters, and then connecting clusters could make sense, in their brilliant “12 insights on hydrogen”. Not sure if the whole backbone strategy is about connecting clusters, or sending hydrogen across Europe.

Is it estimated what percentage use for steelmaking will be, compared to chemicals/fuels?
But why add the cost of pipelines. Methanol and Ammonia is pretty simple (and cheap) to transport.
They are not building EV’s. Like they did with the I3. They are building ICE cars with elektromotors and batteries. And that is why they are not going to be able to compete in the EV Market, going forward. Unless they pull the curtain on a lot of new real EVs really soon….
If our country survives this crisis, I hope the experience will show Americans 2 important things:
1. That government is a necessary good--not the evil that Ronald Reagan warned us about. Air traffic control & food safety inspections are great, actually.
2. We have to enforce the laws on rich ppl.
While Musk & Co execute their administrative coup, Trump is busy working through the "To Do" list Putin gave him.
He just whipped out his favorite Sharpie and put a big check mark next to "disband task force investigating Russian oligarchs."

I have tried to describe that in so many ways, over the years.
But never really found publications dealing with it from a technical/systemic point of view, to back it up.
So thank you so much for helping with that.
Like the typical bully, Trump turned tail on tariffs when confronted. But the domestic assault on rule of law continues. paulkrugman.substack.com/p/what-the-m...
Thanks by the way, for pointing to "System conflict" as the term for describing this issue. That has given some valuable input. Not least, an interesting discussion with ChatGPT ☺️
I know - but that argument somehow bounces off the pro-nuclear movement. They see the authors of that report as paid of by the renewables industry. Far out, I know..
I am thinking that giving an understanding of the systemic challenges might be the way to show what the problem is.
Ahh, OK
How is it that Germany is expanding it’s reliance on fossil fuels. Doesn’t look so in the charts…

This is what happens when a bunch of guys who hold history & social science in contempt are able to accumulate unlimited wealth & power.
Total ignorance, total absence of curiosity about why government exists & what problems it was designed to solve.
The broligarchs are world historically dangerous.
Trump believes that the one with the most aircraft carriers wins a trade war – he does not.
The countries that the US threatens with tariffs do not see what is happening as a trade war. It is about national security, so no one can allow Trump to win.

You know what I mean. The big fail, when it comes to preserving democracy, is the Republican Party. They put their influence and power behind this horror cabinet.
Have you got research from Finland on this system conflict? Nuclear is galning interest in Denmark, often with Finland as a model.
How about the political party representing half of US voters that made it happen? From outside, that is the most unbelievable part of it all.
Same here....
I researched the possibility of driving an EV four our trip here for a long time. And decided it would be too much of a gamble.
Any insights on mixing nuclear power and renewables? Is PV addition in Finland halted because of Olkiluoto 3 coming online?

Believe me, I wish it wasn’t so. If you just knew how much I wish it wasn’t so…
I fear we are next in Europe. Right wing extremism is on the rise everywhere. Backed by billionaires with great control over people’s minds. I think we have let wealth get out of control.
