His embrace found her as quickly as she was in his arms, hands doing their best to console her as he placed soft, tender kisses upon her forehead.

"Hey, hey, shh...what happened? What did you 'fuck up'? Breathe, breathe..."

He didn't even have to knock on the window, she had left it unlocked for him, as she always did.

His breath was heavy as he stepped into her living room, and he only managed to speak two words between the ragged breaths.

"What's wrong?"

He hadn't even had time to remove the devil suit before he was back out, grappling hook sinking into targets that were far less tactically chosen than usual, but that was a problem for tomorrow Matt.

It took him five minutes to reach her window. Five. Absolute record time.

Cuts in his sides stung as their rough-hewn stitches popped. Small cracks and fractures in his bones creaked against each other, sending painful jolts up his spine. Bruises pulsed against his skin.
