“A government that has no electoral accountability can hardly be called a democracy.”

Nailed it!
“When a Premier claims that delays are caused by a proponent’s inconsistency — and that proponent can demonstrably show otherwise — it doesn’t just undermine the specific argument. It erodes trust in the entire process.”

IRONY: govt says it dislikes bloated bureaucracy hires shadow bureaucrats to tell them build a whole new private stream, that will need "regulations" and more bureaucrats to police the guardrails and regulations they are going to add to the system!

Glad my UCP used the notwithstanding clause to protect Albertans from dangerous sexual predators (a.k.a. transgendered people).
We wouldn't want them interfering with the 62 million men actively learning how to harm women.

The Premier tipped her hand on her Saturday radio show when she stated (incorrectly) that the retired judge who had chaired the commission raised the possibility of using voters, rather than residents, as the basis for drawing boundaries. It wasn’t the Chair, but rather the two UCP appointees who suggested this, in their minority report. The majority report is quite clear — Alberta’s legislation governing boundaries directs the commission to take into consideration population, not number of eligible voters.
When facts become alternative facts and spin
#DanielleSmith is constantly creating alternative facts.

We need some kind of fact checker machine to keep up to the spin.
Let's make electoral boundaries boring again

“If the govt were looking to... gerrymander districts... this new, hastily designed process undercuts [public consultation] and puts the decisions in the hands of partisan appointees in a way that we have not seen in Canada since the 1940s.”

A poignant recap of Mark Carney's legacy after 1 year in power.
Great read for Canadians and Americans, alike.

Canada! Alberta! It is far past time to address this deadly health issue.

I work in IT, which is the reason our house has: - mechanical locks - mechanical windows - routers using OpenWRT - no smart home crap - no Alexa/Google Assistant/... - no internet connected thermostats Tech Enthusiasts: Everything in my house is wired to the Internet of Things! I control it all from my smartphone! My smart-house is bluetooth enabled and I can give it voice commands via alexa! ! love the future! Programmers/ Engineers: The most recent piece of technology I own is a printer from 2004 and keep a loaded gun ready to shoot it if it ever makes an unexpected noise.
There is a lot of criticism of floor crossings to Liberals. I’m not a fan of it either, but it’s legal.
Partisan critics must be reminded that Danielle Smith holds a Canadian floor crossing record. For a Cabinet appointment promise, she led 9 Wildrose MLAs to cross to PCs.

There are quite a few UCP MLAs that are not qualified to be sitting in the legislature either. And yet, have they been disqualified or income seized?
