I was reading about rising anti-semitism in the UK, where innocent people are now hesitant to reveal their Jewish identity. Mindless targeting of innocents belonging to a group is ghoulish and evil. Whether it's a result of Islamophobia, anti-semitism, or the racism against brown people.
I knew about the benefits of #aspirin on preventing cardiovascular disease, but now there is some research which shows that it can help prevent certain types of #cancer.

There've been no long-term studies of effects of anti-obesity #drugs. Yet people use it to lose weight, not always for medical reasons. Ozempic can cause people to become depressed, suffer from anxiety and lose interest in hobbies.

India-US trade talks aren't going well. The US refuses to understand why India won't allow imports of various agricultural products. 50% of India depends on agriculture/allied activities & 70% of rural households. 65% live in rural areas. Agreeing to US demands is political suicide here.
Peace negotiations are usually done quietly & go on for weeks. The Iran-US talks in Pakistan were held with much fanfare & ended in a day or so. Odd. It's now clear that China is the real player. China got Iran to come to the table and China is still working at it.
The US is blockading the Strait of Hormuz. Before that Iran wanted to charge millions for free passage. Whether it’s about toll, blockading, charging ridiculous unlawful tariffs or attacking countries- the US has made sure that international law means nothing. Back to the law of the jungle.
Our people don’t vote in large numbers.
Dictators rig elections, rejig voting blocs, use strongmen to bribe/cajole, remove voter lists, add fake names, make it hard to vote, & so on. But Hungary proved that if 80% of the people vote nothing can stop the people from getting the leader they want. Every country gets the leader they deserve.
So little good news in the world but today there's something to feel happy about. Hungary’s Conservative leader, Viktor Orban, is gone. Defeated after a landslide election victory. 79% voter turnout! A center-right, pro-EU party has won the election. May be the world will improve a little.

Hormuz will likely be controlled by Iran forever, as insurance against the US attacking it again. US made a bad deal, desperate to stop the war from which it gained nothing but lost a lot. The waters belong to both Iran & Oman so Iran can make a deal with Oman.

Countries like Korea and China are similar… unfortunately it can lead to individual unhappiness but society as a whole functions well. I think India is similar only in that we value familial roles but no one cares about being a good citizen.
Right leaning people believe Japan is peaceful bc it’s a homogeneous society; hardly any immigrants. Truth is that it has a good Gini coefficient and society is not individualistic - it’s collectivist. Familial roles & being a teammate, employee or a citizen is more important than the “me”.
China is best at everything. They will rule the world sooner than we all realise.

Until this war I didn’t know how dependent we were on imports…hope this is a reality check for the govt.
Restaurants are restricting menus, they are closing, & people say it's difficult to get gas. Yet the govt is saying there's enough for a month. Black marketers have got into the act. If this war doesn't stop soon India is going to be in big trouble.
