McSweeney thought it was a weeze to get Mandelson a job to massage Trump's swollen ego.
A stupid idea that should have gone nowhere will now bring down a Prime Minister
A huge, unnecessary own goal.
A cunning plan worthy of Baldrick.
~ The Mandelson Affair Was Survivable. Starmer’s Explanation Was Not. ~

Trump says "lots of bombs will start going off" if the US-Iran ceasefire expires without a deal.
Ok, so that means lots of bombing on Wednesday thru Friday. The oil price skyrockets. Then White House officials speculate on falling oil prices. Trump then announces the mother of all deals on Sunday.
Strong work 👍❤️
Don’t tell me they didn’t know who he was. He was, still is and will always be a racist.
ALWAYS!!!!
Bit late now. You knew and you didn’t care. So as Dutchy so rightly says; Apologies not accepted.
We all knew Mandelson was not an upstanding man, but a shrewd, fearless operator, & to a degree I understand why Starmer would want such a man in DC to deal w/ Trump. However, his previous record did make Mandelson vulnerable to outside pressures, so even that should have counted against him. 1/2
If McSweeney and Mandelson take Starmer with them, it's only fair because he should have appointed neither. It was poor judgment, both times, and the selection of the right people for his administration is part of his job.
That’s an interesting perspective. I’m going through a lot of personal reflection on this at the moment.
Nostalgia for the past. In reality, it's often nostalgia for the fitness and mobility people had rather than the experience that people are looking for. I saw that thinking in another post, and I believe there's a lot to it. And there is a lot of bitterness behind that mindset.
Labour’s ‘crabwise’ approach to closer EU ties must address damage of Brexit. But @anandmenon.bsky.social says Reeves and Keir Starmer may be arguing for something undeliverable. “At a certain point, they’re not going to get the benefits without the obligations.”

A sexual abuse survivor speaks out today as foul Right Wing racists try to scream over her.
"I stand in solidarity with survivors of sexual assault and I stand in solidarity with Refugees."
So right.
There are phrases that if used by any voter should automatically ban them from voting.
This is one of them.

Youngest was one.
This is a country that lets this happen again and again citing their constitution. But voted an orange nonce in, twice, who pisses over other elements of it.
We’ve taken too much influence from then over the years, and little of it has been positive
I can’t disagree with any of that.
Let's not forget that Putin sent millions of refugees fleeing into Europe to boost the fortunes of his right wing allies and tools, including Farage.
And let's never forget how Farage copied Nazi propaganda to demonise Syrian refugees.
Let's use our votes to do a Hungary to Farage.

With the local elections fast approaching this deserves revisiting:
Farage squirms as Rep. Jamie Raskin obliterates the "Putin-loving, free speech imposter, Trump sycophant".
Please share as widely as possible. The news media have a convenient habit of forgetting about Farage's service to Russia.
