That’s the term… my Catholic education was long enough ago that I’d forgotten the detail. Doesn’t happen often at all, in fact google tells me the last time was 1950!

Maybe better to say behaviour can sometimes be related to mental health problems. Indeed, a sudden change in a students behaviour would be a giant red flag. The danger is assuming that ALL behaviour has some deep underlying cause. I don’t think it does.

Hmmm. ‘Dysregulation’ is also an important word to keep in the right circumstances. My 6yo is ‘dysregulated’ when he has a meltdown because of sensory overwhelm (a result of his autism). He also doesn’t know what’s happening and has very little control when that happens. Maybe that’s the difference.

Sounds like his ‘spiritual journey’ is taking him quite a long way away from Rome.

Papal infallibility doesn’t mean the Pope is right all of the time (even on matters of theology). It’s actually quite limited. Having said that the Pope is a lot more likely to be correct on theological issues than Vance is.

Just finished reading Nuclear War by Annie Jacobsen. That was depressing.

It would be so helpful if they actually did that. No more fumbling around for the light switch when I go to the toilet in the middle of the night 👍🏼

It’s been an extremely difficult few weeks, but after a meeting today I’m
feeling vindicated and like things might finally be going in the right direction. It’s like a weight has been lifted, but we aren’t there yet.

Exciting news - we're looking for someone to join the @meimaths.bsky.social team to work on our 'Maths into AI' courses for teachers and students from September. We're especially keen to hear from teachers with experience of teaching A level Computer Science.

43 Years Ago, Scientists Dropped Gophers Onto a Volcano. Today, They’re Tiny Heroes. It started as a go-for-broke experiment, but it wound up saving an ecosystem.

Me, being led away by the secret service after releasing thousands of gophers at the Capitol: "You don't understand! It's a scientifically proven way to revive a desolate place! I'm a patriot!"

The boy is trying the new Audible Harry Potter’s. I prefer Stephen Fry (he doesn’t), but have to say that Kiera Knightley is just the right combination of sickly sweet and terrifying as Umbridge. Don’t know if HBO have cast new series that far ahead yet, but she would be fabulous.

If you’ve had otters and red squirrels does that mean we can’t??? (In which case barn owl, dormice and potentially moles are on my list. Potentially a cheeky urban fox).

Well my lad is way off the bottom of that scale! Only because school insist he has a part timetable though. I’d note that we still get letters expressing concern that his attendance is below 50%. It is sort of inevitable 🙄
