This isnโt just about supervision. Itโs about democratizing information, strengthening health literacy and elevating the role of community health workers.

Supervising CHWs often means making decisions without actionable data. So, what if we could give supervisors insights at their fingertips?
A childโs development shouldnโt be left to chance. But in many health systems, care is fragmented and parents donโt have the tools to support their children.

This week, we say ๐๐ฝ to Kachengwa & Lawrence as one of our Malawi projects closes.
As developers, they did more than write code. They helped build the future of community health, from designing care tools to training health workers and shaping ICHIS into a nationally owned system. We will miss you!

A big THANK YOU to:
๐ Gloria Kahamba, our Country Director
๐ Grace Mapunda, my supervisor
๐ And every D-tree staff member who supported me with warmth and guidance!
Most of all, I learned how to leverage technology in public health. Iโm leaving D-tree confident and inspired to keep building a career in digital health ๐
My internship also helped me grow professionally:
๐ฃ Improved communication & coordination
๐ Joined the forum for women & girls in digital health (Tanzania)
๐ Learned how apps connect to the Unified Community System (UCS)
What I worked on in the past months:
โ
Ensured health workers had airtime & internet to sync data
โ
Trained on app use + created user guides & videos
โ
Documented project milestones & shared success stories
โ
Represented D-tree at conferences
So why D-tree? 3 things motivated me to apply:
๐ง๐ฝ My passion for improving childrenโs health
๐ฑ Curiosity about using tech to improve service delivery
๐ข Eagerness to learn how real-time data can inform decisions
Before joining D-tree, I worked on different health & nutrition projects with several organizations. I saw the real impact that preventive care can make.
But along the way, I realized something: as a doctor, Iโd mostly treat people after theyโre sick.
What I wanted was to prevent illnessโespecially among childrenโso they can survive, thrive, and live out their dreams.
My journey into health started with a childhood shaped by lots of illness and school absenteeism. Despite that, I performed well academically and always dreamed of becoming a doctor.
Hi, Iโm Pamela, and Iโve been an intern at D-tree for the past 9 months.
