this also got me wondering what a much harder AE would look like (harder in terms of the fundamentals). Idk if it would suit my overall design style/personality but I would like to play it
This also gave me an idea for an AE-like with NO combat levels it's all the strange vignette levels
i do feel like we're headed for a realm of bigger counterculture driven by internet weirdo furries and queer/trans people that many of the establishment, even the more normie left-wing flanks, won't know what to do with. if you're uncomfortable with that stuff, now's the time to work through that.
Thanks for the vid and for playing the game, looking forward to watching! @even-kei.bsky.social

In a time where most games bombard players with heaps of excess information, one indie game dared to ask "What if knowing ππ¦π΄π΄ actually made the game more fun to play and actually explore?"
That game is Angeline Era - and it's easily one of 2025's best games.

Love these!
i wrote an article interviewing 16 developers + me working in the toxic yuri visual novel space.
it took over a month and it cost me a laptop. my favorite piece of writing thus far. enjoy: bsky.app/profile/moth...

Anthology of the Killer is OUT NOW on PS5 and Nintendo Switch!
The groundbreaking and dreamlike, IGF Nuovo-winning horror-comedy series from legendary auteur thecatamites, is finally on console!
Play once and remember forever.
since angeline era bumpslash combat is kind of a buffet of bumpslash combat design, id want to see these more focused takes in the future
- no gun,smaller arenas
- less ranged enemies (more moving enemies)
- no double jump
- single jump w/o air control
- slower movement bumpslash
When I played kh1 for the first time the Tarzan boss kicked my ass the game seems and feels so strange. Like the hit sfx especially
Thanks for reading!
I have had an inexplicable urge to play more kingdom hearts games at some point
OK my reddit ads post is HERE!! I spent a bunch of money on getting 3600 wishlists through Reddit Ads for danchi days... was it worth it??
Should you also run ads?? Read to find out + a lot of explanation of my experience with the process if you want to get started!

The danchi (apartment complex) can be the setting of an epic adventure! Thatβs what I want to show with Danchi Days π
love the lighting and colors!
We recently finished the map for Danchi Days (@danchidays.bsky.social) !! It's been a fun design challenge to set a whole adventure in an everyday setting, shrinking down real-world inspired locations into just a few screens each. My experience on Anodyne 1+2 have helped a ton here!

Happy birthday!
Yeah it's weird turn based gets blamed when the problem is usually lackluster level design (same easy fight 10 times in a story focused game) or the specific battle system not being designed well. But all that has little to do with taking turns
I feel like every decades-old games genre (FPS, CRPG, gacha etc) has plenty of dubious design conventions that fans generally overlook for the genre's core appeal, it's weird that JRPGs' usage of turn based battles/etc seem to bear a disproportionate amount of criticism
For some reason I remembered playing it a bit today a few years ago (I've been playing a VN) and decided to log it haha
One day quest 64 design will return
Don't have much interest in making a turn based anything atm but I think quest 64 is a compelling thing to think about if I were to do some kinda turn based rpg in 3D where terrain and height were important
I think there's a lot to learn about evocative level design from quest 64, and the way the encounters play out in the world is very cool
