"I don't know what my transition goals are anymore, I'm not even sure of my gender, & I can't say whether it's due to the political climate, things I've had to sacrifice 'momentarily' (as in 6 years now) for parenthood, or something else. I exist in a body that is not championed by anyone bc my transition has not been linear & folks aren't used to these stories."

"However, I am happy to have a body that provides for my baby. I am proud to show up at events looking however I look (although that does not mean I want to be photographed whatsoever) & I find it remarkable that I get to have this life at all. Even if it's not easy for us, even if we can't all be physically visible in so many ways (in public, through surgery, hormones, etc), I'm still glad every day to be alive at my age & living the life I live.

I want us all to keep living."

"My identity is ever shifting & I view my own trans existence the way I view aging. Nothing ever reaches a stage of being 'complete;' it's always evolving. I am learning more about myself every day from multiple sources as well as intentional reflection & growth.

We tend to think of visibility as only the physical realm, but so much of the work I currently do & have been doing a long time is about building myself & others up from inside too."

"Often people tell me that I make them feel seen for the first time in their life & I do feel like that is part of my purpose in still being here. We all have a bigger voice & more powerful capabilities than this world raises us to believe we have. Every single person can tap into that with just the right nudge."

"Being trans in Florida in 2026 is a complete mindfuck for me rn & for the last few years bc of navigating new parenthood.

I am a single, aromantic, queer, trans parent moving through an alloromantic, cishet based world for my baby's wellness & mostly having to ignore my entire being in public to do it. I would love it if every interaction opened by asking about gender instead of assuming. It is difficult to advocate for yourself when the setting is your baby's appointment, so the focus both is & isn't about you. Picking your battles in this current climate on top of it all is so incredibly draining."

This is our last TDOV 2026 post - & it's mine. This is the first time we've ever done something for TDOV & I've loved the energy I've felt around these posts & just knowing we're all still here doing all our things in 2026.

"Being Trans in Florida means that I endure it.

Every disrespect, every tasteless joke, every problematic talking point. I endure it.

Being Trans in Florida means that my trust in other human beings is at an all-time low.

It's hard to see any benefit to being visible, in 2026."

"For me? The time for visibility and pride was years ago, when I had the energy to fight for it, when I thought other trans and queer people would support my human rights on principle rather than for clout and optics, and when I didn't know that fighting workplace discrimination would mean taking years out of my life to fight a war of attrition that wouldn't even make up for the wages that I lost."

"Visibility was for when I still thought my visible presence could make any positive difference for our community, rather than just making me a target and putting me in danger.

Being Trans in Florida means focusing on passing– as a man? as a woman? Anything cis will do.

Being Trans in Florida means knowing that the only way I maintain any of society's grace or consistent employment is to slam the closet door shut as hard as I can."

"And being Trans in Florida means knowing that other Trans people will find any excuse to abandon me and will even call me fake or privileged for what I have done for survival.

Being Trans in Florida feels solitary and empty.

Being Trans in Florida feels like all my life I will be hunted, and if they catch me, they will kill me.

But.

First, they will have to catch me."

"A Poem by me about my Found Trans and Queer Family –

i have found myself
in corners and crevices
i would have never began
to look in without the
guidance of my found family
They have walked and talked
with me for hours, days even
And i am forever grateful

They have shown me the
beauty in Queerness
and Trans love and laughter
Our love is the resistance
and our love is Kind and
soul healing and may we heal
together and mend our broken souls"

"Being a genderfluid trans masc person in florida (and in a very red area) was Frightening at first and then i found my little pocket of queers and trans folks and it just started to grow bigger and bigger. And once you find home and your people, the scariness doesn't go away, you now have people to combat it with and fight for you freedom and rights. May Queer love and Trans love grow bigger in this State of florida"

"We are more likely to be declined for jobs and that's such a huge financial strain especially over here in South Florida. I'm currently going through that myself (wish me luck, I'm waiting on results for one of my dream jobs!!) Another form of visibility is getting involved in our community, like, even if I hate you, I don't actually hate you because at the end of the day if I saw you struggling I would help you. I think we should keep that mindset for our community, because even if you don't like a member they still need resources. Don't forget art, uplifting our voices and expression! Paying us fully for our work even if you are a "friend." Supporting our work wholeheartedly. Not asking for handouts knowing you have the privilege to pay."

"Lastly, I think visibility for myself is just being loud and proud and out there and not being afraid to take up space or correct people or to defend myself. When I was younger I cosplayed as a gender I was not for an ex's comfort, and I'm tired of doing that to make others comfortable it's like a friend and partner filtration system because the genuine ones who are meant to be in my life stay. With love, Poison!"

"I'm proud of who I am as a person, a born leader, and super ambitious. A Virgo... basically (lol,) but hey don't judge me 🫠 I also have a Taurus moon and Scorpio rising, Leo Venus (I love hard,) Libra mercury, and Sagittarius mars. A weird fact about me is that my two most serious relationships and my current serious relationship are all Sagittarius', isn't that crazy?"

"Being transgender in 2026? Well, it's difficult, yet beautiful, and so freeing and important to be visibly queer and transgender for myself. I hate conforming in any way, shape, or form. I want people to see and hear me and be moved by my presence. They sure are by the looks my girlfriend and I get in passing at the park...."

"The political climate is dangerous. I worry more for my transfemme sisters/girlfriend, especially BiPOC trans women and men and non conforming, I want us to receive more visibility. We face a lot more violence and my heart goes out to all of us, we face violence in general, but I don't think we can speak on us BiPOC enough, ESPECIALLY BLACK TRANS WOMEN!!!!!!!

I think there needs to be more of a focus on mutual aid, that is a form of visibility as well for me and the community."

Hello! My name is Alexa, though I go by Poison. Why say Alexa though? Because the man I am named after is my grandmams brother, who unfortunately died in 1987 to AIDS. I honor him, love him with all my heart, with all my being, I see him in myself, and I love the meaning of the name which means "defender of mankind.

I'm a disabled, queer, indigenous, latine transgender person who goes by fae/faer/faers pronouns. My alias is Poison, my username on Instagram is @poisonvuitton, and I have been trying to start my own community organization @aidforantivenom."

"I'm huge on activism, expression through the arts; more specifically poetry, modeling, photography, photographing MYSELF! Alt style, my piercings, my makeup, my tattoos, the body modification I most want which is getting my ears pointed!! And reconnecting with my indigenous identity, finding out who I am more and more on a daily basis. Learning my ancient indigenous language, keeping the culture and my lineage alive. I come from a line of Shamans in my tribe, specifically the Mapuche tribe of Chile."

"To me, honestly standing in my existence as a proud trans woman in Florida has such a punk edge to it. We're in a political climate where people like me are ostracized within our communities, defamed in the media, threatened online, etc. and it takes such a strong sense of will and sense of self to live unabashedly in your truth not just for you, but for the others who feel like they can't. I don't consider myself a role model for young trans people because we're not a monolith, but I believe that showing up and showing out for my community when others can't is the least I can do."

"I remember what it's like to be scared and even ashamed to stand and showcase who I am to the world around me, but I remember the individuals that I used to look up to, not just on tv or in the movies, but in my own community, doing the damn thing and living their life just as much as anybody else should be. That inspires me every day and I believe that showing the world that trans people are still people whether it be through art, activism, small acts of kindness, it matters. Protect the Dolls. Employ the Dolls. ARM the dolls, and just show up."

Text at the center reads: ‘Dear future me...I hope you’re surrounded by peace. I hope you’re still building a world where our people can breathe easy, laugh loudly, and live freely. May you never forget the courage it took to get here, and may you always reach back to lift others forward.’
