How can you help? If you are living in Cyprus and have Dutch friends, colleagues, or connections here, please feel free to introduce them to me.

Don't hesitate to send me a message. I’m always open for a chat, perhaps over a good cup of (Cyprus) coffee. ☕️

My goal is to be a valuable point of contact for the Dutch community on the island and to understand local issues that need attention in Dutch politics.

4 months ago 1 0 1 0

The SNBN advocates for the interests of Dutch citizens living abroad by bridging the gap with politicians in The Hague. Having a voice is essential, even when living across the border.

I am proud to share that I have started as Regional Representative in Cyprus for the Foundation for Dutch Nationals Abroad (SNBN).

Woon jij in Cyprus? Laten we connecten!

What about Mac? Well... it's ironic. Without the DNA of BSD, macOS wouldn't even exist today. Full circle moment.

5 months ago 0 0 0 0

🔙 Context: Both Linux and BSD exist and thrive because Microsoft was (and is) an evil company producing inferior software.

Back in the 90s, the need for open alternatives was real, and our shared disdain for Redmond definitely united early Linux/BSD users and contributors.

From Slackware in the '90s to a decade on Arch, my Linux journey has been a long one.

For a current project, I'm diving into FreeBSD and I'm genuinely impressed. 🤯 It feels different, in a good way.

I might actually completely switch.

Anyone else made the jump from Linux to FreeBSD? Tips welcome!

Lovely Sunday in one of the most beautiful and authentic villages in Cyprus: Pano Lefkara.

First an amazing brunch at and then a nice long walk through the village. #DiscoverLefkara

Very interesting article for anyone interested in the use of AI in education.

IMO domain-specific AI models instead of generic trained ones are essential to address many of the challenges mentioned and to effectively address concerns like feedback, bias, context, etc.

What's your opinion?

That said, we need to go further. IMO, domain-specific AI models are essential to address many of the challenges you mention and feedback, bias, and context.

Appreciate you sharing this — it’s an important and well-reasoned piece, and I agree with most of the concerns raised around AI in education.

I believe agentic AI, when grounded in Self-Determination Theory and constructivist principles, can help learners reclaim both autonomy and integrity.

Decentralized education is what got me passionate about Web3. Agentic AI was the missing link to make it truly decentralized.

So it should surprise no one that when I started @synthonyx.com, #EdTech became a core mission.

I’ve lived in 5 countries, including nearly a decade in a remote Bulgarian village (Slavovitsa, Pazardzhik). I enjoyed that more than any city.

Let’s see what life in a #Troodos mountain village will bring. Can’t wait!

One year in #Cyprus already!
When I arrived, the plan was: one year by the coast, one year in the mountains — then decide where to settle.

Tomorrow, I make the move to the mountains.

Curious how others approach language learning:
Do you start with grammar? Vocabulary? Listening? Full immersion?
What’s worked—or totally failed—for you?

Let’s share methods.

Instead of spreading verb tenses, moods, and aspects across multiple levels, I learn them all at once.

It works. Because it’s not about memorizing silly sentences—it’s about understanding the system behind them.

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

That’s why I go grammar-first. Once I understand the engine—tenses, syntax, structure—everything else starts falling into place. Vocabulary sticks better too when you know where it fits.

The CEFR focuses too much on memorizing situations—like how to order a coffee—instead of teaching you how the language actually works.

Why learn words if you don’t know what to do with them?

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

Hello fellow language learners! Let’s talk about how you learn languages.

I’ve lived in five different countries and always learned the local language. Now I’m learning Greek.

But I’ve never been a fan of the CEFR system (A1–C2) for learning languages. 🧵

Interesting to hear Musk talk about a US–EU free trade zone. That was actually the goal of TTIP, which aimed for zero tariffs and better regulatory alignment.

But the first Trump administration shelved it—Trump preferred one-on-one trade deals.

Funny how we’re back at the same idea full circle.
