@danrenwick.bsky.social's advice is spot on. The lore is overwhelming, so ignore everything that doesn't directly impact the game you are running. Run 6 Seasons (danren posted a link). You can do it in 10-12 sessions. If you & your players don't love the game after that, then it isn't for you.

Several times. Back in the day (80s) it was the 1st CoC game I ever ran, still friends with several of the players. More recently it's running the Six Seasons campaign for RQ. Run it 4 times now for different groups and it never stops being a great experience.
