ahead to your future, has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. Being your mom is an honor I never take for granted.
Keep being exactly who you are. You make me proud every single day.
I love you to the moon and back, always. #15

Callum, you are truly something special. You’re the first to step in and help, a natural leader, endlessly curious, whip-smart, creative, and so genuinely funny. You light up every room you walk into.
Watching you grow, discovering what you love, pushing yourself, and starting to look

I can hardly believe this incredible kid is turning 15 today.
I still remember those long days in the NICU after he arrived two months early, sitting beside him, wondering how we’d both make it through. And here he is now, stronger than I ever could have imagined.

Knit in @emmasyarn Practically Perfect Sock one hank of each color is needed. Worked on US 2 and 3 needles, high contrast is key when choosing your colors.

Worked in the round seamlessly from the bottom up, motifs such as his whip, iconic hat, skulls, the chalice (“He chose poorly”), the scene where Indiana is running from the giant boulder, snakes (“Why did there have to be snakes?”), and his satchel is worked in the round in stranded colorwork.

Proud of my @gscnc54_15 Brownie! She spent time planning, designing, & executing her beachy vision for the Juliette Cup! A neighbor gave her some sand from their sandbox, she collected tiny shells at the beach, & earned Overall Best In Show! So proud of you, kiddo! #girlscouts #brownies

Another waiting-for-my-daughter-at-taekwondo knit, I will absolutely knit another of these. Did I mention how clever it is?!

her work is often imitated, she’s original in her construction in a way no one else is. Pattern is Square Squared, made modular-style all in one piece. I dove into deep stash for some @the_yarn_jar self-striping yarn, and the result is so happy I’ve been wearing it despite warmer temps rolling in.

Oh it’s been a while since I knit something so satisfyingly clever! If we’re talking clever knitters, in my option there’s no one else like @strickmich! I had a chance to hang out with Martina years ago when we were both teaching at Squam, & she is as lovely in real life as you think she is. While

Yesterday our @girlscouts troop tye-dyed shirts as unique and wonderful as they are! I loved watching them choose their colors, their bunching techniques, and encourage each other in moments of uncertainty. I woke up extra early to rinse them out and let them dry in the sun before

got it working again. It still runs beautifully! It’s been fun watching him use it, switching between the typewriter and a stack of classic books. There’s something satisfying about seeing him trade screens for something a little more hands-on, even if just for a while.

We recently dug out my grandmother’s Underwood No. 3 typewriter. Nearly 100 years old, solid iron and surprisingly heavy, she used it every day for letters and correspondence. My son has been curious about typewriters lately, so we replaced the ribbon and

I used a merino, alpaca, possum (not opossum - they’re super creepy) blend & a mohair and polworth blend for a bit of halo from @skeinzyarn. I’m surrounding myself with quick, easy projects right now since all my brainpower is being channeled into these next two books. Back to writing…

Been deep in writing & research land lately for books 17 & 18. My on-the-go knitting/waiting for kids at various activities knitting was an Alpine Bloom Hat by @boylandknitworks with yarn I bought in New Zealand.

Towards the end, Tom brought a beautiful hat out and told us the pattern was done for Back To Back, an event his mom started 30 years ago starting tomorrow, March 21 that raises money for rare cancers in Australia. Teams from around the world start by sheering sheep, carding and spinning the wool,

One of the coolest places we visited in Australia was @tarndie. A family sheep farm going back over 200 years, we spent a memorable day hanging with sheep, touring the farm, eating lunch, buying yarn, and hearing about the process of dyeing with eucalyptus.

Possum yarn? Yes! Not to be confused with the creepy nocturnal opposum marsupial many of us Americans see lurking around at night, possums are an invasive animal that does massive harm to native bird populations in NZ. However, lucky for us knitters, it

My goal with all 6 projects was to use stash, knit only gifts, no work knitting, and no colorwork (a challenge presented by a knitting friend). Challenge accepted, and completed (except for keeping that one blue hat for myself!). Onwards!
