"The company founded and formerly run by Trump Energy Secretary Chris Wright recorded $193 million of income last year but paid no 2025 federal corporate income taxes, according to its regulatory filings, and actually got more than $10 million back from the IRS..."

Sarah Longwell: We are committing superpower suicide in real time. Trump is making China Great Again. Poll: People in *every single one* of the top US-allied countries now believe it’s better to depend on China than on the US. The global balance of power is clearly tilting away from the US and toward China.
It’s funny that every school is convinced that dumping area studies and student organizations for Black students is the path to “regaining trust”
(alongside images of the US, megaphones, Liam Conejo Ramos’ bunny hat, and signs that read “NO ICE WAREHOUSE,” “SHUTDOWN DETENTION CENTERS,” and “NOT HERE/NOT ANYWHERE”) NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION STOP ICE WAREHOUSE DETENTION APRIL 25, 2026
NEXT SATURDAY: Americans will gather again at nationwide events in defense of immigrants in our communities. The regime is buying up warehouses to convert into concentration camps, and we must come together to oppose the literal warehousing of people in our country: www.mobilize.us/disappearedi...
I am not a lawyer, but am I reading correctly that the majority opinion cited the concern of “irreparable harm” to the coal industry (which employs ~40,000 people) with no mentions of the “irreparable harm” higher CO2 emissions could bring to the population of (at the time) ~7,500,000,000 people?
"the future for the Middle East…Iran has operational control of the Strait of Hormuz. And this Wall Street Journal quote from a bank analyst sums it up: “This has been the economic catastrophe that everybody could have predicted, that everybody was predicting, but Trump did it anyway.”
A screenshot of a Facebook post by CBS 2 Boise. The post text reads: "A new state law required the City of Boise to take down the Pride flag outside City Hall. Tuesday morning, the City wrapped flag poles in Pride colors and added a new sign to the window on City Hall. CBS2 reached out to the Mayor and Governor’s office for comment." Below the text is a collage of three photos showing these updates: Left: A tall metallic flagpole in a plaza at night, with its lower section wrapped in horizontal stripes matching the colors of the Progress Pride flag (black, brown, light blue, pink, white, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple). Top Right: A closer view of a flagpole base, also wrapped in horizontal Progress Pride flag colors. Bottom Right: A large window on City Hall featuring a graphic with diagonal stripes in the Progress Pride colors alongside the text, "Creating a city for everyone."
Oh, this is good. Idaho passed a bill banning local cities from flying the Pride flag. So the cities decided to wrap the poles themselves in pride colors.
This is amazing.
President Trump’s dangerous threats reached a new low this morning. “A whole civilization will die tonight,” he wrote.
J Street is calling on our leaders to exercise their powers to restrain and remove this president.

Utah voter registration update showing more Dems than R
This is, again, good news for the Dems in Utah. And I also wonder how many of these new Dems are liberal voters who used to be registered Republicans to vote in their primaries, and who now have finally seen that moderate GOP options don’t really exist anymore
An excellent briefing before the hugely consequential (also for the US) Hungarian elections.

As upsetting as the beginning of the podcast is, the end is much worse. We need to see the attacks on our transgender fellow citizens as the beginning of a genocidal crusade podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/o...

A federal judge on Friday halted efforts by the Trump administration to collect data that proves higher education institutions aren’t considering race in admissions.
If you were reading a history of the Gilded Age and encountered a tycoon who kept pushing insane conspiracy theories about declining white birth rates and who used his vast influence to kill off nearly a million people in Africa, you'd very easily conclude that person was a white supremacist.
Really appreciated this conversation between Jon Stewart and Heather Cox Richardson. @hcrichardson.bsky.social
The future isn’t written for us. Systems fail. People can rebuild them. History, art, and storytelling help people make sense of the moment, recover agency, and imagine what comes next.
