In 2023-24, private renters on the lowest incomes in this country spent on average 63% of their income on rent, leaving them with less than half to live on just to pay their landlord.

This is what happens when housing is treated as a profit machine.

It’s indefensible.

Creeping privatisation is destroying our NHS while lining the pockets of the wealthy.

We need to kick these vultures out of our healthcare service and bring it back in house.

🚨 Renters, know your rights! The new rules on rent increases mean increases will be limited to once per year and must be carried out through the correct legal procedure, with at least 2 months’ notice.

If you believe an increase in unfair, you have the right to challenge it at a tribunal.

The upcoming end of fixed term contracts means more security and control for tenants. Your home won’t just come with an expiry date anymore.

🚨 Renters, know your rights! With the end of Section 21 coming up soon, it’s important to know where you stand so your landlord can’t try to use a lack of knowledge to force you out of your home.

One in 20 councils threaten prison in their very first letter after you miss just one payment.

It’s indefensible.

Council tax is the most regressive and unjust tax in our country, hitting the poorest hardest. It should be scrapped, not enforced with threats of prison.

🚨 Tenants of The Poppy Factory are facing rent hikes of up to £800.

Blaming the Renters’ Rights Act is a disgraceful excuse. These unnecessary hikes will only force people out of their homes and onto the streets.

Tell The Poppy Factory to scrap them👇

While Britain’s water companies contaminate our rivers with sewage, make people ill and jack up our bills, foreign private equity is stepping in to profit.

Privatisation has failed. Water, wind and rail carved up and sold off.

All so offshore investors can gain at our expense.

A fee to access rent tribunals would be nothing short of a direct attack on renters.

It will make it harder to challenge unfair rent hikes and create the perfect loophole for landlords to push tenants out with huge increases. Renters shouldn’t have to pay to defend their homes.

Criminal.

Youth homelessness rising again.

This year we also saw more pensioners facing homelessness than ever.

If you can’t afford a home at the start of your life, at the end of it, or anywhere in between, that is the design of a housing system we must refuse to accept.
