Fantastic story. BC United continues to exist purely for the drama. www.vancouverisawesome.com/the-mix/bc-u...

Did they actually redact anything? I swear I skimmed it twice and it was all there
That's just procedural. After first reading, all bills get moved to be heard on the next available day, such isn't usually tomorrow. There's a lottery system for private bill prioritization and I'm assuming this is near the bottom. So it'll sit on the order paper and die at the end of session.
Bloc leading by 1 vote in Terrebonne
Terrebonne voters might be about to do the funniest thing
The anti-Indigenous rhetoric coming out of BC politics right now is troubling. It's being led by the right, as I've explained, but the NDP's lack of leadership and courage in confronting it is equally troubling, I argue for @canadiandimension.bsky.social: canadiandimension.com/articles/vie...
From unions, to law & justice groups, to enviro orgs, local gov leaders, faith groups, academics and more – 130+ civil society leaders across BC are urging the #BCgov to recommit to implementing the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act ✊ wcel.org/DeclarationAct

This was an awesome get Shannon! Interesting the move to permanent daylight time was also included in there.
The BCNDP is facing the largest caucus revolt since the baker's dozen uncermoniously deposed Carole James as leader. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
SOGI was introduced under the BC Liberals, as was the addition of gender identity and expression to the human rights code.
Now a lot of that was driven by effective 2SLGBTQ advocacy, including Vancouver Pride banning the BC Libs from the parade for a couple years.
But the bigger question remains (aside from Wab Kinew) why don't our politicians want to talk about Epstein?
Important piece here.
I have photos of me (as a much younger EngPhys student) in 2007 with physicists Lee Smolin and Lawrence Krauss, who both appear in the files (the latter also left his job following sexual harassment allegations). Not proud of that in hindsight.
I look forward to Naheed Nenshi blaming Avi Lewis for the fact the ANDP is losing to the UCP 53% to 36% when 56% of Albertans say the province is on the wrong track. It can't have anything to do with the fact Nenshi's own popularity is a mere 35%.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if she's just legislatively incompetent at drafting coherent bills.
The vicious intent is there with the absurd $10m fine but language like "direct and indirect" funding is just badly written.
Why was Brad West scheduled to speak at a far-right event in Coquitlam this weekend? West apparently cancelled due to a family emergency but ostensibly would otherwise join in? This event is very clearly not simple "education" given the INCREDIBLE bias of its speakers.
Public transparency notes required under the bill
lol sure
For the procedural shenanigans or because you hate the professional regulation changes?
The text of the definition of "advocacy organization" within bill M240 singles out 2SLBGTQIA+, Indigenous, environmental, druge use, homelessness and poverty groups.
One would assume but I didn't realize Tara Armstrong's expose-the-advocacy-groups bill was so explicitly targeting everyone she doesn't like. www.leg.bc.ca/parliamentar...
Side-by-side comparisons of Bills M236 and M238 which would both repeal the Health Professions and Occupations Act. The first from Anna Kindy, the second from Jordan Kealy.
They're the same picture
I presumed it's out of order to introduce the exact same bill as is already on the order paper, but apparently the BC Legislature doesn't care.
Carney is being asked whether *any* politician is welcome in the Liberal caucus and he’s basically saying yes.
There’s no line in the sand — as long as they tell *him* they support Liberal values, they’re welcome to the Liberal Party to grow his majority power.
Yikes.
One simple improvement to Facebook would be to make all page posts only open to established followers by default.
So much rage you see there is from drive-by profiles reacting to pages pushed into their algorithms (or it's bots).
'Fire John Rustad' launched Aug 19, 2024. 9 days later, Kevin Falcon suspends the BC United campaign.
Falcon hired the leader of the Alberta Republican Party to make this happen.
For this disinformation campaign, the smallest slap on the wrist from Elections BC.
Maybe Marilyn Gladu finally got her COVID vaccines
A lot of those pushing these narratives in the US are Canadian too!
Thanks for the shout out and wild binge!
In terms of books, I recently had a chapter on Vancouver published with @stewartprest.ca in this (slightly more academic) volume. utppublishing.com/doi/book/10....
Can we parents agree to start telling kids the Easter Bunny only visits tidy houses?

Mark Carney is running the exact same budget but gets nothing but praise from our pundit class.
The BC government has begun using AI to process FOI requests.
While AI use is currently limited to identifying certain types of personal info and reviewing older documents, the company that developed the tools says there are plans to expand it. @thetyee.ca thetyee.ca/News/2026/04...
If the season is fewer than ten episodes, just make a damn movie
Maybe this Avi Lewis guy is onto so m things
The Canadian government would never.
Or they'd happily send a fleet to do some imperialism
