Opossum slubbing!
In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Some in rehab are patiently waiting for Spring so they can be released. This Juvenile Black Rat snake was caught on a traditional spring loaded snap trap. There were only minor injuries, but it's a bit too chilly to release back outside. So we wait & give enormous amounts of attitude while we wait.
Move over Elf on the Shelf, ot time for.....
Turtle on a Hurdle ๐๐ฌ
No Elf on the Shelf needed when you got Owl on a Towel!!
Forget Elf on the Shelf, we have opossum on some blossoms!!! ๐
You can donate via our Facebook page as well & we do have an Amazon Wishlist that I can post as well.
It's Giving Tuesday!
Thank you to all those who have already donated for my birthday! Any amount is always appreciated.
I am not paid for what I do all donations go directly towards the care of wildlife. Food, enclosures, formulas, medications, vet bills, etc.
I do not normally post anything like this, but it was so unexpected.
Charlotte left a mess & I sat on the floor to clean it. Then she decided to climb onto my shoulders & started to clean herself ๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ ๐
Finally found a volunteer to clean up after Charlotte after she eats ๐
Ok, it's Charlotte, she's my new volunteer but she apparently doesn't mop. Still thankful for her help because she gets food everywhere!
Today is one of those days I dislike being a rehabilitator.
I had to make the difficult decision to let Arturo the opossum cross the rainbow bridge.Unfortunately, letting them pass peacefully is sometimes the greatest gift a wildlife rehabilitator can provide. Arturo, you were loved ๐
Charlotte decided that instead of helping me fold the animal laundry, she would climb all over it to explore. ๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ
I need better volunteers, seriously ๐
New intake:
Please Do NOT use glue traps of any kind. The are cruel & inhumane.
This is the 3rd Carolina Wren brought to me in 2 months. Plus 3 snakes.
Lmao she is very spunky & demanding. Her spirit is really good. Her jaw was injured but that's doing better as well thankfully.
She was used as a play toy by a pup. She's actually doing really well but I think has some permanent vision issues.
We are 501c3 nonprofit wildlife rehabilitation center that cares for orphaned & injured wildlife to get them back into the wild.
We provide education on the environment & wildlife plus wildlife encounters!
