Another hot sunny blue sky day and another excellent long cliff top walk around NW Malta. Spectacular cliff top views. Celebrated on return back with some pints of good IPA from the local brew pub.

Arrived in Malta to nice warm sunny day. Walked through valleys and up and down cliffs. Checked out local micro brew pub/tap room. Good range of styles competently done.

5am pint of Holts Bridgewater Ale at the airport is very acceptable when the only beers on the flight are from Heineken and will be avoided.

Lovely Old Ale of Gales heritage. Lots of sultana and raisins, nice plum and fig flavours. Faint vanilla. Now branded Dark Star but who cares when it tastes this good. Superb with artisaanal old Cheddar cheese cave aged. Not pictured.

Spending the afternoon enjoying this excellent Oude Geuze blended by the Bascule café in Flanders. This was the first blend from 2022. Lots of stonefruit flavours, apricot and peach. Fruity dry finish. Great to see the revival of café own geuze blends. Lovely beer.

MOSI Definitely worth a visit. So is John Ryland's library and the People's History Museum. They are all helpfully located close together.

I always enjoy a visit to Orval.

It evolves. Fresh it is fantastic for its fresh hop character. As it ages the malt becomes more forward and the Brett element more emphasised. I love it both fresh and up to 10 years old. But remarkably it's still very drinkable well beyond that.
