I don’t know why the thumbnail is pulling through the screenshot of the cancelled 64DD version rather than the blog post’s header image, but I kind of like it

Apparently it’s the 20th anniversary of Mother 3. So, here, have yourself an old post…

character in green has just walked down a set of stairs. another character in green is greeting them (good morning wanker! you woke up late this morning) at the bottom of the stairs, in a room with a cupboard, a book shelf and tables. greenery and trees surround the building.

Old post!
Since I just got the Mega Drive version of Undeadline, let’s revisit the MSX version!
(Strangely enough, this post was written five years ago this weekend)

I’m very surprised they didn’t make a Game Boy. But they did do that Virtual Boy instead, which is VERY Nintendo to do exactly the thing no one expects
Well, that’s the evolution innit. Most allow you to easy side load games these days. Some increasingly even support original carts.
This era definitely isn’t over. It is evolving though.
I found this piece by @mackeza.bsky.social very thought provoking. It touches on the guilt we’re often meant to feel if we pursue pastimes that are not inherently productive, and it’s very important that we reject that kind of social pressure as much as possible. Have fun before you die!
For various reasons I have never bought a newspaper, so I only ever see them when I visit my parents. Today I idly flicked through the Guardian’s Saturday supplement was pleasantly surprised they now feature really well written and informed pieces about gaming. Who knew?!
Gomola Speed is good though

His precious
Just one new arrival this week… The Mega Drive reissue of Undeadline.
I loved this on MSX, so I’m looking forward to comparing to the MD version
Went to my first Record Store Day today. IT SUCKED. Queued for an hour to make virtually zero progress, only to be told the disc I wanted was sold out.
Took my vinyl money down the road to a comic shop and spent it on lovely vintage comics instead!
Marl
I’m happy for you right now
Well, that’s clear as mud.
Also quite confusing as I’ve just learned Midnight Run is subtitled Road Fighter 2.
I guess I have no choice but to buy Konami GT and judge for myself.
Ooh, I’ve never noticed this before but I wonder if the RF2 indicates this was meant to be a sequel to Road Fighter
Oh lol, I’d forgotten that. Also - I miss Ng Man Tat so much. A great comedy actor but also a fantastic dramatic actor when he got the chance
And Neo Turf Masters includes the Scotland course that was previously CD-only!
This is super cool. The new carts are a total steal. £70 for an official Metal Slug that works on original hardware?! That’s cheaper than a repro!
I snagged myself a Neo Turf Masters and Mark Of The Wolves.
There's very little info about this online, but apparently back in 1979 there was a Lupin III popsicle that you could buy to get a chance to win a Nintendo Block-Kuzushi machine.
I only learned about this when I saw that one of the winning machines was for sale, so I decided to buy it:
Nice. I keep meaning to watch God Of Gamblers II… The idea of the original and the parody kind of merging into one sequel is fascinating to me.
Ooh. Haven’t seen the former but have the latter. Have you seen God Of Gamblers, which All For The Winner parodies?
I LOVE him. Which did you watch?
This is the life… Child is back from nursery school, chilling in the half finished snug and watching some anime
I pushed it.
It solves the room’s puzzle for you but brands new a loser. Reminds me a little of the Thief gag in Link’s Awakening
Should I?
My Super Mario 64 post got a bunch more views today. Turns out it’s featured in @jank.cool’s weekly round-up. Neat!
This one seems to have resonated with folk much more than I expected, which is a pleasant surprise.
