oh dang I picked the wrong day to be too sick to politely
advise someone against a course of action. Our condolences.

And the results were pretty good. That about sums 'er up.

"What if someone put Lemony Snicket style dourness rules into an OSR style game that was printed in a Trader Joe's Fearless Flyer for art"

That worked for me anyway, a ton of walking. It feels like nothing but accomplishes a ton.

Is the new alternating workout mostly compress-y cardio like jogging or something? I recently tried adding a second jog at night to my routine and my back went on strike immediately.

RPG title length and degree of poetic nature is inversely proportionate to page count. A zine may be called "We are But God's Worms in this Dessicated Railyard." A game over 400 pages should be called "Fantasy RPG."

Haha SF6 Ingrid looks like if there was a Kingdom Hearts rollercoaster and it needed a virtual line attendant that explained the seat belts. I love her immediately.

You know you love being tangentially aware of cheesecake comics.

We're taking this week off from Expounded Universe as Jon has a throat infection and can't talk good.

Gonna start a conspiracy theory that she's got a supertech robo-hip that lets her pirouette at degrees hitherto undreamt of. It's not a weakness, it's cheating. She's a cyborg.

Bad news everyone, Disney has shockingly cut our license access. Now I guess no one gets to see the exactly one thousand and one immaculate pages of "Stand around the main areas spamming A/S/L in chat between little minigames" rules we had written. Frankly it's your fault.

Good news everyone, we just acquired the Club Penguin RPG license! Now I know your first question and yes, we have detailed rules for the penguins disemboweling each other with filthy sawblades.

Yes but have you considered what if Peter Parker was in high school again forever?

"No no, kill all this shit, I only wanna write about the original Fantastic Four/Scott and Jean stories/the Joker again"

It's funny because I full agree with this but it feels like the same forces in reverse in comics. You get neat development and cool new characters and stories until they replace the lead writer, and they invariably go "fuck all this what if Hal Jordan met Abin Sur and then had to fight Sinestro."

I think it's obvious that the problem is they've hired the wrong Jon Taylor from the internet's nerd spheres. We have a solution ready for the Neopet people when they are ready to hear it.

I've joked with some folks before that the implosion of the Neopets RPG is their chance to step up and take a shot at it, but it seems like there really IS an opening now since John Taylor of Geekify has been sent to whatever the Neopets equivalent of the Phantom Zone is

Whattaya mean nonsense scale, I'll have you know Amazon said my Fantasy RPG themed cookbook was the top seller in Shadowrun Accessory Products for 2023.

It's interesting to me almost entirely because of the opacity of the thing. Market research must be a giant pain in the ass in a space where you need to thread an insane needle between originality and doing what already worked.

To sort of reiterate on that, out of like fifteen books I've written at this point I pitched basically two (and they're like our #2 and #3 best sellers, actually). The way it works is we submit a cool pitch, and a few days later we're told like "beer books are soft right now."

5.5e Change FAQs – D&D Beyond

Goddamn I love this seventeen question FAQ about why D&D 5.5e is called D&D 5.5e now, especially since all the answers are just like "No" and "Nothing."

I dunno what you're up to exactly but I think you might want to talk to noted RPG comedy historians about it.

Ah yes, the one where you could get real scared of a ninja and come down with a diagnosed case of gay about it.

Yeah I think we definitely go on way too much of an old millenial tangent in this episode when we start whining about how there aren't also RPGs for Rushmore and The Virgin Suicides and Suicide Kings.

Episode corrections:
DBZ RPG used Fuzion and not tri-stat, I should have remembered it as the game where my bonus character was Hot Noodles

We did cover BESM but like so long ago that I have genuinely no recollection of that. It's me Jef though so that could honestly be yesterday.

System Mastery 321 – Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai RPG System Mastery 321 – Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai Just one of your everyday run of the mill licensed games made out of Jim Jarmusch movies. Can’t tell you how sick I am of playing …
