I personally think it would be anti democratic to force people to consistently follow their party just because they originally planned on representing them
Things change, parties evolve, and imo it's a way for all MP's to actually have their voices heard and show their displeasure through actions
The way I see floor crossings is it's a needed protection against the possibility of dictatorships or even just anti-Canadian legislation. If someone feels that the party they represent no longer fits their values (the values people vote for) then yes, cross that floor
