Great to see coverage of our new paper over the weekend. Sincerest apologies to listeners of BBC Sheffield, Heart and Capital who had to listen to me every hour on the news bulletin and to the commenters on GB News for being 'a sanctimonious lecturing bore'.

Policies that single out pregnant people’s drinking aren’t working, but there are other policies that appear to help - Institute of Alcohol Studies Professor Sarah Roberts looks at the most effective ways of reducing drinking among pregnant people.

Pregnancy-specific alcohol policies are common - but new research shows they're often ineffective or even harmful.

A better approach? Policies targeting the general population - like taxes and retail controls - are safer and more effective.

Spot the difference 🔎

Left: A Guinness ad near an Irish primary school before a complaint.

Right: After the complaint - now Guinness 0.0.

A dangerous loophole lets alcohol brands dodge ad restrictions by promoting zero-alcohol products. It's time to close it.
