Inconsistencies can pull readers out of your novel.
Detective Bell drives to a restaurant fifty miles away. He leaves home at 9:45 a.m. and arrives at 10:00 a.m.
He did not speed over a hundred miles an hour, teleport, or use magic.

I don't get how anyone can call themselves an author if they don't do the actual authoring.
And we can tell a book is AI-generated. AI is soulless. So glad I can read samples on Amazon before purchasing a book. I won't be happy if I waste money on AI drivel.
This is after the editor helps them get their manuscript looking the best it can? Unless they're not talking about the quality of the novel but of the topic. But who knows what will catch an agent's interest?
Or maybe these are AI-generated books. Nothing will make that kind of book look good.
I saw emails about something new, but I haven't yet gone through them. I still need to sit down for a day and actually look through the EFA and ACES websites to see what I can actually get out of them. It's so overwhelming.
Yeah, how dare freelancers wanting to be paid fairly for their skills and effort.
Happy Tuesday! (If such an event is possible π)

Okay, Book one is now in my Audible library.
Also I thought that was a pile of books you've written. It wasn't until I got onto Amazon to take a peek that I realized it's a book cover. Very creative.
I started listening to the first novel in the series yesterday. I love that the protagonist is a freelance editor.
I wish I had a family member who wrote. It'd give me a chance to get some actual experience. I'd think it would be a challenge. Are they willing to pay, or do they expect it all for free?
I haven't started writing my novel yet. But jigsaw puzzles and guinea pigs will be involved.
Bambi is a fawn and Mr. Tumnus is a faun. I'd have to look up "fawn over." Or is it "faun over"?
Text that says How is searching for the copyeditor who is right for you and your manuscript like couch shopping? It's best to test each sofa before deciding which one fits your booty best. That's why just picking any old couch online isn't the best idea. It may look comfortable. But when it gets delivered, you may find it to be so hard that you can't get cozy or so soft that you sink into it and can't get up. It's best to test out the person you're considering by asking them to complete a sample copyedit. That's why just hiring someone online without seeing how they work isn't the best idea. They may be cheap. But when you get your manuscript back, you may find added errors or a complete erasure of your writing style because they ran it through AI. Guess what? I will complete a 1,000-word sample copyedit of your manuscript, so you can see how I can get your writing clear and as error-free as humanly possible so you can publish with confidenceβand it's free! I work with both fiction and nonfiction. Interested? Want to learn more? Message me here. Or email me at eileen@eileensproofreading.com. I look forward to hearing from you.

I was inspired to write this after sofa shopping with my sister last week.

I see you changed it from simple past to simple present tense. Keep on going. You've got this!
I tried reading one of Moore's short stories. I was bored halfway through. Don't compare yourself to others. Some will enjoy your story; others won't. Just write it. Besides, your writing style won't be the same as hers.
You can check out the posts editors make on social media as well as their websites. You could search through professional sites like the EFA and ACES. You could look on Upwork or Fiverr. But be sure whoever you're considering has the proper training. Cheaper isn't always better.
I had to give up on this puzzle. Not enough variety in color. π It bored me.
Readers also get bored without variety.
Make sure your characters don't all speak the same way.
Make sure your sentences vary in length.
π Then hire a copyeditor to catch anything else that could bore your readers.
So many cozies, so little time.

Who used a real musket ball and why? Samantha canβt believe the kind and patient man who helped her all those years ago to pass math would do such a thing.

If authors edit with AI and accept what AI gives them, their manuscript will be loaded with the trite phrases that replace the perfectly fine words they had written. And they'll also have added errors.
I saved this. I made a contract using a template from The Paper It's Written On. But I know it can be improved. I forgot about the Freelancers Union.
Wait. So is this both EFA and ACES? I'll have to check this out.
π§ Such a breach of trust. With all the stress of publishing, authors shouldn't also have to worry their editors will toss their work into AI. The no-AI clause is a good idea. I'd also expect any author I work with to not have an AI-generated book as well.
I like how you add the full-manuscripts part to your offer of a 1,000-word samples. I also offer a free sample of my services and was wondering how to keep people from asking for that on small projects.

What can you do to meet those expectations?
