In case you are new to the concept of the Fediverse: it can be compared to email. There are many servers like @gmail(.)com, @outlook(.)com which communicate with each other. The difference: you don't explicitly send a message to someone but the servers "federate" content all the time.

You can search for a different Pixelated server on https://pixelfed.org/servers Spreading the load on more instances is best in many regards (cost 💸, moderation 🗑️, distribution of power 👨🏼‍⚖️).

I would expect it to remain deactivated on pixelfed.social for now because over 11,000 new users have registered in 24 hours and the Instagram import would overload the servers even more. On other instances of Pixelfed (e.g. 🇩🇪 pixelfed.de or pixel.tchncs.de) Instagram import might be enabled.
