I saw it in the theater, I think it was 2009 here in Brazil, and never rewatched. Since I was a teen, I didn't take a lot out of morals or meanings, but I am curious to rewatch it eventually, as I remember really enjoying it up to that final scene. I believed nowadays I would not be as bothered

Yes, didn't have enough of a word count to make it clear, but I heard this Spielberg story as well. I do get it, as well, why he did it, particularly given the style of horror in the 2000s. It's certainly more marketable. But I was a snob teen, and I wanted my atmosphere!! haha

I think good world building is just as much about what isn't said as what is said. I think leaving gaps in the world that allow for the audience to fill in with their own imagination can sometimes be a more effective tool

Every year the data shows middle grade/YA comics are bigger than ever. Virtually every comics publisher that turns a profit does it with their MG/YA line. But Marvel, they can't be bothered. It's negligence and I'd even call it a failure of leadership. Every laid-off editor could still have a job.
