A particular highlight of #StandUpForScience2025 was hearing @therealdrdukes.bsky.social speak. Science is strengthened by equity, inclusion, and justice. Now more than ever, we need to protect and empower the next generation of diverse scientists!

People keep saying oh your research program is probably safe. No it’s not. There’s is no “safe” research program unless they are all decided by merit and not political whim (which is how it was done until Jan 20th).
The goal is to dismantle American universities.

In case you are worried about logistics, like childcare, we are thrilled to partner with Aelis Farma who will cover the costs of onsite childcare for those in need via their Daycare Initiative. As someone who lugged my kids around to conferences, I am so excited and proud #EBPS2025 will offer this.

Instead, these neurons are uniquely engaged in parallel to dopamine neurons to contribute motivational drive under multivalent decision contexts - they signal something more akin to motivational saliency, an integration of appetitive and aversive states.

Critically, Margaret found that GABA neurons are not simply a read out of salience or intensity, because unpredicted shocks and rewards of varying intensities don't evoke a scaled GABA response.
