never gonna shut up about how Queen Elizabeth died like 6 months before they said so. you know they have body doubles for these people. we’ve all seen “Dave.” they just had to limp her over the finish line to 70 years to get her jubilee and make her the longest reigning monarch

we’re bringing back them back, baby
God this is so fucking cool
THIS is the kind of cyberpunk future bullshit I actually want
Europe and China are surging ahead with renewables and the US is going backwards. It’s appalling.
That's just fact
Your regular reminder that cops don't actually justify their existence or enormous budgets by solving much crime.
Approximately 11% of all serious crimes result in an arrest, and about 2% end in a conviction.
And then there's this...
Fascism, among other things, is just a childish inability to share.
Konrad Benjamin nails the root of the problem: to stop large industries from ripping us all off, politicians need to stop “going to work in the industries that they literally wrote the rules for”🔥
Rules that as Dr Denniss points out, see gas co’s “pay more in PR than PRRT”💥
the easy access to murder our military and police force have now allows for the wholesale dehumanization of people
but i don’t think our brains are able to actually handle that. it makes you go rotten. it is dehumanizing in both directions
like walk it all back to why we developed weapons of war, it’s to protect the land where we grew food and tended to livestock. or where we hunted and gathered.
killing people, for most of human culture, has usually happened at a small scale, or at a large scale, demanded huge sacrifice
it is so interesting to think about what killing each other has usually been and what it is now
something brutal, hands-on, physically taxing, even with a weapon—
our brains are not meant to cope with being able to kill so easily. cruelty was like…hoarding bananas, not murdering people.
I really wish we started treating Twitter in the same way we did 4chan. The legacy of what Twitter was and the problematic relationship people have with it prevent them from seeing that it’s 4chan. Yeah it can be funny, interesting, and wild…but you’re still on /b/ and /pol/… it’s bad for you.
Almost everything we argue about is a substitute for the thing we should be arguing about: the immense wealth & power of an oligarchic class, which captures governments, ruins lives and wrecks the living planet.
This class redirects our rage at scapegoats. To resist its lies is to resist its power.
A screenshot of a post on X (formerly Twitter) by Magyar Péter (Ne féljetek), with the handle @magyarpeterMP. The post reads: "Until 31 May, the Orbán puppets may voluntarily step down from their positions. This applies to the President of Hungary, the President of the Curia, the President of the National Office for the Judiciary, the President of the Constitutional Court, and the Prosecutor General. On 12 April, the Hungarian people voted for a complete political transformation. If these officials do not step down voluntarily by 31 May, then — on the basis of the mandate received from millions of Hungarians — we will remove them from office." At the bottom, the timestamp reads "3:04 AM • Apr 21, 2026" alongside "19.9K Views".
Peter Magyar is not playing around at all. He's going to purge every single remnant of corrupt Orbanism. This is exactly how Dems need to be when they retake power.
Okay, so Faine asked why this is the case. My theory: there is a Calvinist streak a mile wide when it comes to how a lot of the more militant COVID conscious people approach these questions.
Virtue is supposed to be its own reward, proof of your worthiness; to complain is to prove one's sinfulness.
Another reason I kinda wanted to talk about how hard COVID was for so many people: I think recalling those memories is HIGHLY relevant to the vibecession discussion.
This movie is absolutely fucking brilliant and I will not rest until everyone recognizes that fact
Wow, the bioessentialist nonsense is outstanding here. Truly impressive.
Let me guess, she’s also a raging TERF?
Author @gilduran.com was just banned from “free speech absolutist” twitter for criticizing the Palantir CEO’s manifesto— so here’s his upcoming book: www.simonandschuster.com/books/The-Ne...
Roe v Wade
Not where I was going and that’s a lot of hostility and assumption of bad faith there.
This idea that progressive word choices are the problem just seems like a stuck in 2020 POV. Every week someone is dying in ICE "civil" detention. If you can state plainly that people are dying in concentration camps, maybe they'll give you a pass (or even understand) why you say "justice involved".

I don’t understand why he didn’t just cross-post to here? Negates the need for alt-text if he just posts the text!
For my fellow fresh Olds
So, we juiced markets a little bit and gave Iran time to dig out its launchers. Cool.
Discovery is gonna be awesome
This isn’t an academic threat to democracy, social inclusion and genuinely liberal values where people are all valued equally. It is a clear and present fascist program attached to a military political project that stifles dissent at home and kills “adversaries” abroad.
The Australian Greens are calling on the government to audit every Palantir contract across Government and particularly in Defence, Home Affairs and intelligence agencies and table the findings in Parliament. The public has a right to know the full scale of the risks and the sell out.
Palantir is known to have provided technology that facilitated the Gaza genocide. They are facilitating mass ICE kidnappings in the US. These actions alone should trigger a review of Australian contracts. This latest manifesto only adds to the concern.
