Ye I was thinking that Cross would gravitate towards Dust the most out of all of them at first, because Dream is too clingy, Killer is loud and aggressive, and Nightmare and Horror are very intimidating. Dust is quiet and mostly keeps to himself, and he wears clothes like Cross.
The shiver did not like that Dream brought Cross to the grotto, but Dream was able to smooth things over with them. Cross warmed up to Dust the fastest, and Dust has been teaching him mer language.

Cross can't understand what Dream is saying. Dream notices that Cross is hurt, so he takes him to the abyss. Dream is saying: "Wow so handsome. Wait are you hurt? Our shiver can help. They will love you!"

I was looking up burger pics to use as a ref when drawing this, and ended up getting really hungry from seeing them, so I decided to draw a hungry Horror at the end lol
