In Turkey, an elderly man who earns his living by shining shoes is visited every morning at the same time by a cat that asks to have its fur brushed. The man never turns down this little friend.😍👍💙
How on earth do I manage to screw up offering a graphic novel book club for teens? Flyers everywhere. Teacher buy-in. Snacks offered.
Two sessions of interest meeting. One young person, who seemingly had been dragged in by their parent.

Catholics are who the Klan went after locally, a century ago, because there weren't non-white people to terrorize.
A fluffy longhair black cat lies belly-up on a beige carpet with wild green eyes. All four paws are curled.
My mom is jealous of her little sister becoming a grandma, so I sent her this adorable photo of her grandcat.
Congress needs to hear directly from you to stop the Federal Book Ban Bill!
Your message can help lawmakers understand that Americans stand against the Federal Government's attempt to restrict their freedom to read. share.nwmd.social/s/PcuPD0Qc
Akin to the second point, Siggi's (the Icelandic yogurt company) usually announces a ridiculous flavor on this date.

I see you, I care about you, and I am concerned for your safety.
I have the lady yelling at the cat meme in my head for this one.

Books that make you uncomfortable are not bad. It's what helps you become a better person.

I know I can't change this patron, but I would really like to have balance in the Christianity section of the library. We've got nearly every book Joyce Meyer wrote.
I have a patron who loves Joyce Meyer and Joel Osteen. Can anyone recommend other Christian self-help authors that maybe aren't such prosperity theologians?
Thank you!

Anji enjoyed watching the snow lightly falling this morning.
Happy birthday!
Ironically, I was first diagnosed with shingles on this date five years ago. GET THE VACCINE. (I've got more than seven years to go.)
Do I go with Vinland Saga, the Dangerous Gift (Wings of Fire), or The Light Ages: The surprising story of medieval science?
I saw a Tesla with a bumper sticker that was a red circle with a line over "ELON" just this morning!

We can hope that Europe takes it down instead?

Can anyone recommend children's books on Sikh holidays, please? Last year, the middle school social studies teacher told me that Sikhism was one of the world religions required in Michigan curriculum, and I only have an encyclopedic work on it in the school library. TIA!
Sending thoughts/prayers/positive energy (your choice).
"I also wanted to say thank you to the librarian, the kids told us they read an EID book at school and it made them feel special." - parent's email to school
INCLUSION MATTERS!
Especially if you don't know that a couple of white, blond students are Muslim, this is why you teach all holidays.
House Republicans have introduced a bill to effectively grant the federal government decision-making power over what books make it into the library. H.R. 7661 claims to “stop the sexualization of children” but as drafted it risks embedding discriminatory outcomes, which disproportionately affect materials reflecting diverse identities and experiences. How does it do that? Defines “Classic Works of Literature” as those promoted by a Christian Homeschooling site, Compass Classrooms Specifically references banning any book that "(ii) involves gender dysphoria or transgenderism." This means any book about a trans person or the trans experience would be banned from every public school in the United States Uses financial leverage to pressure schools into removing books Why is that Bad? It gives politicians broad authority to restrict whose stories are allowed on our shelves. Parents, not politicians, should guide their children’s reading Materials in our school and public libraries are selected by trained literacy professionals who understand child development and community needs. The First Amendment makes clear that the government should not impose religious ideology of one faith over all. WHAT CAN I DO? Call your reps and tell them to oppose this bill! SUPPORT FREADOM!
